The original war memorial was built in 1924 and aptly unveiled on Anzac Day that year. In 1953 immigrants built the impressive clocktower over the memorial making it something to behold. The clocktower was to remember those who fought in WW2. It's centrally placed in Ulverstone and it's a landmark that you can't look past. There is small grassed area opposite it which I believe would allow the locals somewhere to come together on Remembrance days. This structure is really impressive. When I first visited Tasmania about 25 years ago this is something that I remembered about Ulverstone... the structure, not necessarily the history... 'Lest we forget' indeed. This is definitely worth taking a few moments to look at... it's not like you can miss it... it's structurally imposing where it is. :)

One man's amazing tribute, carved entirely from Huon Pine timber, to the history of Tasmania.
You won’t see anything like this in Australia or possibly the world. A must for any visitor, artist, sculptor, tourist or Australian to see. A very finely beautifully sculpted wall of Huon pine by the extremely talented artist and sculptor Greg Duncan. Many amazing stories told in beautifully sculpted Huon pine timber. This is a wonderful family owned business and unique tourist attraction that is very deserving of a visit when heading to the West Coast of Tasmania. Well done to Greg Duncan and his family for all the long hours and hard work undertaken to create such a magnificent, unique tourist attraction for Tasmania and Australia. We look forward to our next visit to view the additional sculpted work that will be completed on the wall.

The information on plaques was interesting and entertaining to learn about tasmanian convict heritage. The range of convictions from petty theft through to murders was varied and poignant. Harsh penalties for small crimes committed.

Beautiful quiet town, it is possible to camp over night here as well. There is electric bbq and toilet block. Very clean and tidy.

Had not idea where my husband was leading me when he said he wanted to go to the Cenopath. What a pleasant surprise. Beautiful and interesting architecture and great views. Stop by on your way to or from the Botanical Gardens.

A very well done presentation to commemorate this terrible effect. The walk through the shrubs reading the tiles of information was very good.
