The old Burgundian university town of Leuven offers a range of adventures for overnight visitors or day-trippers from Bruges and Brussels. Tourists will find everything from gastronomic tours to architectural gems like the Gothic Town Hall. Nature lovers won’t be disappointed. The Kruidtuin Botanical Garden’s herbal gardens are the oldest in Belgium, and Heverleebos, a “city wood,” offers a respite for urban dwellers. The exploring is easy in Leuven, on foot or on one of the ubiquitous bikes.

There is a competition between Fons Sapientiae, a male university student from Leuven and Renee. One is quite in what is amusing, but the female counterpart is quite more serious. After all, she is also a university student. She leans on a pillar and she has a book in her hands. Still some tourists’ like to put their arm around her and even some of them do kiss her on the lips. I am certain that if she was alive, she would hit the guy between the eyes! Many students call her Fronske as she is the counterpart of the Fons Sapientiae. Interestingly enough, it is a Renee who gave the initiative to build this statue. Maybe this is why this statue is called Renee. This is quite an interesting statue that matches with this university town. Would you like to meet Renee?
