Famous for Bourbon Country and horse farms, civil war battlefields and beautiful natural parks, Kentucky offers a delightful mix of experiences. You might begin in Lexington, where the 1200-acre Kentucky Horse Park is a popular attraction. The university adds exciting sports, impressive art and a vibrant student/professor population to the city. Louisville is similar, where renowned Churchill Downs hosts the annual Kentucky Derby and the Belle of Louisville, the nation’s oldest steam-driven river paddlewheeler, hosts enchanting lunch and dinner cruises along the beautiful Ohio River. Next, head south to visit Mammoth Cave National Park for a day of touring the cave (the world’s longest known cave), hiking and canoeing on the Green River. Paducah, Berea, Bowling Green – so many places to explore and enjoy!

This memorial to Kentuckians killed in Vietnam is a giant sundial whose shadows fall on every name on the anniversary of that soldier's death.
Built like a sundial so that the gnomon (look it up, I had to) casts a shadow onto the circular surface. The whole thing is designed so that the shadow falls on the names of the honored dead highlighting the month and year of their sacrifice.

In 2011, the American Veterans Traveling Tribute approached local Hardin County veterans in the hopes to bring a permanent replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to Elizabethtown, KY. The project was approved by the City of Elizabethtown and land from the Elizabethtown Nature Park was chosen to house The Wall project. The newly formed Hardin County Veterans Tribute Group began fund-raisin
Part of Elizabethtown Nature Park, this memorial pays a great tribute and remembrance to those who died during the Vietnam War. Makes me appreciate the freedom I enjoy today.

Walk Madisonville! is a brochure containing three walking routes in the downtown area. The walks, the Art Walk, the History Walk, and the Patriotic Walk, highlight the area and encourage walking for health benefits. Each walk is approximately 2 miles and loop so walkers can begin and end at any point on the map. Brochures are available at the Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission and online at https://tinyurl.com/walkmadisonville

A bit off of the beaten path, this old iron works furnace is as rich in history as it's size is impressive. Although there are plenty of signs around to explain the history of the site, the real treasure here is just how closely you can interact with the attraction. I spent a good hour crawling the tunnels of the old furnace, and experiencing the awe inspiring size and construction from within. As a middle-aged man I had a blast exploring this site, but I imagine that young kids would have a thousand times more fun here.

Eclectic is a much misused word but it was invented for stores such as Shaq & Coco with its tasteful mix of clothing, furnishings, costume jewellery and so much more besides. Staff who are welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. A beautiful store in a beautiful little Kentucky town

This is truly a remarkable place for any big Everly Brothers' fans! The owner was extremely welcoming and friendly, and gave us a ton of information about the Brothers, as well as of the other country stars who originated in Central City! He also offered to take our picture in front of the marvelous outdoor Everly Brothers monument! We arrived at about noon, and he had a quick meeting to attend to, and he politely asked us to come back in 30 minutes, which was absolutely no trouble. He was very courteous to give us directions and answer any questions we had before he left, and he returned back before we did! Admission is free, and there is parking available right in front or directly across the street. The collectables inside the museum are also very fascinating, such as a jukebox that is accessible with the press of one button, and a mini theatre with a short documentary. There is also a little gift shop with lots of great goodies for reasonable prices. Would love to go again, and would highly recommend to anyone interested!
