A monument to the pilots of the French Normandy-Neman Fighter Aviation Regiment was opened in Moscow, in Krasnokursantsky Square, on October 10, 2007. The composition of the monument: French and Russian pilots after a combat flight... The place for the monument was not chosen by chance - the Vvedenskoye Cemetery is not far, there the pilots of the Normandie-Niemen regiment who died in battle are buried. In 1943-1945, when the French pilots of the Normandie-Niemen air regiment together with Russian pilots in the 303rd fighter Air Division of the Red Army fought with the Nazis, 42 French pilots were killed.
