Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye [ˈtyɾcije]), officially the Republic of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Cumhuriyeti [ˈtyɾcije d͡ʒumˈhuɾijeti] ( listen)), is a transcontinental country in Eurasia, mainly in Anatolia in Western Asia, with a smaller portion on the Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries with Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, the Azerbaijan and Iran to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the south. The country is encircled by seas on three sides with the Aegean Sea to the west, the Black Sea to the north, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. The Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles, which together form the Turkish Straits, divide Thrace and Anatolia and separate Europe and Asia. Ankara is the capital while Istanbul is the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre, classified as a leading global city.

Hacıvelioglu Mansion was built in 1897. Its importance today mainly comes from its role in the War of Independence. It was used as a military headquarter by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk during the Independence War. Ataturk stayed in this house for a night and marched to Kocatepe that is 20 km to the west of Suhut where the Turkish army started large-scale attacks against the Greek forces.

This museum, located in Dolmabahce Palace, contains over 4000 items relating to Turkish naval history.
This place is huge so be prepared for a long but interesting walk throughout the Turkish naval history and heritage. Those interested in ottoman navy, naval uniforms, Ataturk & his love for sea and history of scuba diving equipment should check this place out.

It is a military museum established to serve the need for informing the visitors about Çanakkale Naval Battle and Campaign. In the complex of the museum many guns and objects used during Çanakkale Battles, Çimenlik Fortress, Nusret Mine Layer, German Submarine, ACAR Museum ship used by ATATÜRK and a library can be found.
We had less than an hour to explore, having arrived late in the day but it was still very good. The ticket price was only 12TL, for that you get a small tour on a naval vessel, access to a gallery inside the fortress as well as a multitude of outdoor exhibits of weapons. We could have easily spent 2 hours here. The only minor criticism I could make was that many of the exhibits only have Turkish language information. I would have liked to have seen more exhibit descriptions in English.

Awesome experience of viewing history military campaigns encompassing conquest of Constantinople (present Istanbul) by the Muslims, the military campaign by Kamal Ata Turk for revival of Turkey after the WW-I, and then listen to the gallant tunes of the Mehtar Band along with the performance. An experience worth watching and remembering!!

The Red Tower is located at the end of the harbour, just up from the jetty. The opening hours where 9.00 am - 19.00 pm in the summer. Entrance fee was 7 TL or 10 TL with the Shipyard or 14 TL with Shipyard & Damlatas cave. Four floors to visit, plus the turret with fantastic views at the top. As this is a medieval tower, there are lots of steep ,narrow, steps to climb, so not suitable for people with disabilities, or small children. Displays, models, old photos, on each floor. A must do, is on the second floor, walk out onto the old walls, the only way you can access it, again great views, but a lot of people miss it.
