If you are looking for an active place to stay with world-class attractions, Ohio’s major cities can satisfy any vacation desire. Each offers its own distinct flavor of fun, from professional sports – Bengals (Cincinnati), Cavaliers (Cleveland) and Indians (Cleveland again) – to museums, outdoor activities and more. One of the most famous is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. If football is your thing, don’t miss the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. For the science-minded, visit the meat eaters at the Carnivore Conservation Center in the Wilds near Cambridge, dedicated to the breeding and scientific study of endangered mid-sized carnivores. Kids will also love Planet Snoopy in Sandusky or the Columbus Zoo’s Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Jack’s Landing rides.

We celebrate the service of all Veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States. You can see all eras of military from the Revolutionary War to modern military. We have a small WWII canteen with art work on the walls. We have a theme wall we rotate to exhibit the different wars and veterans.
Besides the outstanding military displays from various wars, the museum holds a monthly meeting that provides valuable information to our Vets. They receive valuable information from guest speakers, personal stories from our veterans, plus films and information about the tactics and strategies used in battle. Would recommend this to Veterans, Families, and military history buffs. A valuable learning experience.

Recognized as a National Historic Landmark, this restored 1873 Pennsylvania Railroad depot is the best example of a WW2 Canteen left in the county. During WWII, 1.3 Million service members were served free food by 4000 working volunteers at the Dennison Depot Salvation Army Servicemen’s Canteen. These servicemen and women traveled by troop train and stopped at the Depot as they were going off to fight in the war. Our Homefront hospitality became so well known, that the nickname Dreamsville, USA was given to us by the soldiers! The facility includes a museum, restaurant, gift shop, theater, and rolling stock including 2 engines. Very interactive for kids with a scavenger hunt and children’s railroad experience car. The site features a large model train display, multiple exhibits in 4 restored train cars including a rare WW2 hospital train car, special events throughout the year including Polar Express, and more! When you visit, you will be walking in the footsteps of American heroes!
Made the drive off the beaten path to see this piece of railroad history. Wow! Excellent museum, did an outstanding job of reclaiming this 1873 depot and preserved all of the history of an amazing Salvation Army canteen. During Covid - felt safe to be here. Staff is helpful, many interesting displays that take up a whole train as well as a very informative movie. 1.3 million service men were served a quick snack with sandwich, apple, cookie, and cup of coffee while the train was at the station for 7 minutes taking on water for the steam locomotive from 1942-46. Nearly 4,000 volunteers from an 8 county area pitched in to make this happen with assigned shifts 24 / 7. Great to see patriotism that existing at that time.

The sister boat, the PT-724 is currently on display outside by the museum's second hangar. The PT-728 Thomcat will be available for boat experiences when restoration is completed. On permanent display within our galleries is the WWII service uniform of actor Clark Gable. The museum also has 3 screen worn uniforms from the actors who played Col. Klink, Col. Hogan, & Sgt. I still wonder if the museum is so great or we loved it so much because we had an amazing breakfast at Tin Goose Diner right before visiting... Anyway, put both on your bucket list!
