Forte Montecchio North is the fortress of the First World War best-preserved in Europe, strategically located at the confluence of Valtellina and Val Chiavenna. His French guns from 149S in revolving dome are still fully functional. OPEN from MAY, every SATURDAY, SUNDAY and ALL THE HOLIDAYS (July and August every day). Guided tours in the openings at 10; 11; 12 am; 1 pm; 2 pm; 3 pm; 4 pm, 5 pm. IN AUGUST opened every days from 10am to 5pm

Here models of cannons, weapons, uniforms and various mementos from the historic day of June 24th 1859 are displayed. The Museum itinerary is accompanied by captions that explain the events describing the most important protagonists of that historical event as well as each individual find.

We participated in an event at the end of summer that was about history learning through recreation of the battles! We admired the highly creative organization, the costumes and scenery, and the sheer enthusiasm of the event-planners. It's absolutely worth visiting and following step by step the dramatic events for a night that is beyond cinema experience- more like traveling through time! Thank you!
