Reviews on Middle Eastern food in Essaouira, Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz Region, Morocco. Portuguese, French and Berber architecture frame the maze-like streets of Essaouira, a charming and vibrant port and resort town on the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby, couples and families stroll the beaches of Cape Sim and Sidi Kaouki, which also attract surfers of all types. Relaxation is easy to find here, as is a bus to Marrakech, for those looking for a daytrip.

Located within the medina
We had to leave Essaouira at 18:00 but wanted to have a last fish dinner before we move further inland. Unfortunately all the places we looked at were closed, but we were lucky to stumble upon this lovely place that was open. The waitress was very kind and the calamary was excellently prepared and very tasty! The ambience was cozy and soft Bob Marley music helped us relax in the afternoon.

We've been in Essaouira for two days and visited the restaurant twice, yes, is that good. Attentive staff in a beautiful environment, spectacular meatballs tajine, nice juices, good squids and affordable prices. Petit place and cosy. The second time we asked for Moroccan soup (one), they brought two and said one was on the house. Totally recommended.

Tara Café is a small restaurant / café that offers different meals a day, on slate: a vegetarian plate, a plate accompanied by meat and 2 dishes of the day to choose from. Many desserts to close this lunch. In the dining room or on the small terrace, you
Our first night in Essaouira, arrived too late to eat in our Riad so we checked out the restaurants nearby. Found this quaint piazza, lovely cafe/restaurant. The piazza was beautifully lit, with kids playing, and people eating, very welcoming, and cozy. We ordered the Goat cheese salad, fried calamari, and couscous with lamb. The salad was fresh and welcomed after a 7-hour bus from Casablanca. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with rubbery, flavorless calamari, especially being a fishing town, and dry lamb which was also flavorless along with the veggies and couscous. No seasoning or spices. The service was good though, very friendly staff. Worth it to go back for coffee or a juice just to sit in the beautiful location. Lots of kitties which I love, but may bother others.

A contemporary restaurant specialising in modern dishes inspired by traditional Moroccan flavours. Vegetarian options available.
This restaurant has only been open a few months but I predict in a couple of years you will struggle to get a table. The food and service are excellent. The decor is minimalist chic in creams and whites. The staff spoke good English and were helpful. Iâm a vegetarian and my husband and I shared a mezze of dips and Moroccan âcigarsâ - spring rolls stuffed with cheese and raisins - as starters. It was all delicious. I then had a layered aubergine bake (think Melanzane Parmigiana Moroccan style) and he had the fish of the day. Again great flavours and just the right amount of food. After the Vegetarian Berber tagine that I ate in the High Atlas this aubergine bake was the next best main course Iâve eaten in Morocco. We finished with a tiramisu and a chocolate mousse with cardamom. An excellent enterprise that deserves to do well and I would definitely put it on the list of go to restaurants in Essaouira.Hi Isabel! Thank you for visiting us and for your kind feedback, we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your meal and experience here with us. We hope to see you again soon! Nomade

At Friday (couscous day in Morocco) we had a very nice lunch at El baraka. I had a vegetarian couscous and my friend choose the one with chicken, both very delicious. We sat at the roof terrace, which was sunny and wind-free. Good and friendly service.

We were looking for a decent seafood meal in the Medina, and stumbled across Restaurant de Coeur...and it was a great find. I had the seafood pastilla, my partner had the monkfish...and it was close to the best meal in Essaouira. Beautiful food well presented...so good in fact we're going to go back for dinner...well worth thd visit. No wine or beer, but that is not unusual here

Very small family owned restaurant with very slow service. Food is average and choice limited. My chicken was really dry, you could feel that it was not slow cooked like real tagines. Restaurant is very clean and owner friendly. There is much better in Essaouira.

Lovely place in the medina where you and your family can spend time in a typical decor for lunch or dinner at very reasonable prices.
Popped in for lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had the three course lunch. We began with very flavoursome stuffed sardines followed by a seafood pastilla and a squid tagine. We followed this with creme caramel and a selection of pastries. They brought chilli sauce out to spice up the tagine.

Another delicious experience at dâOrient et dâAilleurs which has now become my must-stop-by restaurant whenever Iâm in Essaouira. I was delighted to see some novelties added on the menu like the John Dory filet served with a very tasty coconut sauce and tender vegetables. My partner went for his usual meat couscous (always generous portions). I also tried the dried fruit pie for dessert, a sweet touch that tickle the palate but doesnât weigh heavy on the stomach. Altogether another very agreeable evening!
