Things to do in Xilitla
The food was great! Wish they accepted debit or credit card but good thing we had cash. The tortillas are naturally from corn.
Nuestra Comida es deliciosa y sencilla, inclinada por los sabores y sazones caseros de distintas regiones, con recetas únicas con los ingredientes mas frescos, creando porciones vastas para deleitar a todos los gustos. Venga a probar nuestras variedades d
The food is amazing! If you have a lot of time, I strongly recommend trying this place. The thing is the service is super slow. There was a couple who came later and received same dishes that we order sooner than us. This upset us a lot, because we were in a hurry to catch a bus to Ciuded de Mexico. 5 stars for the food, but 1 for the service. I hope this was only our bad luck, because the place is awesome!
I have traveled extensively throughout Mexico. However I had never heard much about this little town of Xilitla!! And at first glance I mistakenly assumed it was to going to be placed on my list if âtypical small towns one quickly forgets the name ofâ. But much to my delight it quickly began to unveil its unique personality. In the Sierra Gorda surrounded by the lush national park, the town is a challenge for the driver due to its one way narrow streetsAnd steep hills. When we finally located the Hotel Sierra Linda where we had reservations, we were perplexed as to how to get there. The two super physically able members of our senior citizen party of four left us to investigate. They learned there were many stairs and uneven walkways to reach the top, and though there was another entrance it too was physically challenging. They kindly canceled out reservation and now we were nervous to find an acceptable hotel as it was getting late in the afternoon! Without exception the people we met in Xilitla were friendly and helpful!! And though the town was busy with tourists and life on the street seemed bustling, there was a laid back charm that immediately calmed us. We were lucky to find two rooms in the Hotel Extreme and a young man there helped orient us and we spent the evening and next day exploring the unusual sights in the area. Of all the 6 Mission towns this one is by far the most unique and special. Try to go before it grows too much larger. Visit it before progress comes and changes it. Narrow streets, steep inclines, fantastic views and unusual sites. Young and old alike will find this town unforgettable! A Mexican treasure!
The dinner at Mi Haustequita was delicious! Enchiladas con cecina, enchiladas with thinly sliced marinated beef, with well-prepared beans and salad. Our host and his family were very friendly, the atmosphere was casual and warm. After spending the past four months in this part of Mexico, I can say this was a delicious, lovingly prepared meal. We will return for breakfast tomorrow morning, with chiliquiles promised! The chef speaks beautiful english, tambien.

Xilitla has ery few options for having lunch /dinner that are not local fare. Ambar is a little gem that offers quite a varied menu of local/international dishes. The owner is always there making sure that things are working and she made sure we had a nice service and the food was always freshly made. It can be a little slow when there are many people, but nothing that can be solved with a nice bottle of wine in the Terrace while staring one of the most beautiful views of Xilitla.

Enjoy the best coffee and delicious meals inside Edward James Surrealist Gardens. We have local and traditional meals like cesina meat tacos, enchiladas, ajonjolinadas, chilaquiles and also international food menu that include bolognese and vegetarian las
Great location near the entrance to both the pools and the gardens, tucked away in a cave like setting. Pretty, quaint. Service was good and there was a decent selection on the menu. The tortilla soup was amazing! Entrees were split for our family: lasagna was ok/good, tostadas were tasty but the veggie crepe was terrible (loaded with garlic and onion). Still easier than going into town, and worth a second shot as it could have just been a whoops.Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. We are happy to hear your experience was good. We do our best to make it the best possible experience! Thank you for your words as it feeds us all to keep putting all the best in it! Hope to see you again if you ever come back to Xilitla! This place was recommended by the owner of the cabins we stayed in (Cabanas La Heurta, very near Las Pozas, very charming if missing some essentials) and it was very good. Wide menu, everything well done. My partner's chicken with cheese and almonds was delicious; my pollo caldo was perfect for a bland kind of soup with a large piece of chicken with rice, and veggies. All reasonably priced.

The Querreque restaurant is located at Xilitla downtown, Querreque is a concept of contemporary Mexican cuisine fused with Huasteca cuisine, we have a wide variety of dishes, all our food is fresh and prepared At the moment like all good cuisine, we have
Querreque was recommended to us as the place to eat in Xilitla and a quick walk around suggested this was right. The nice thing is that whilst it lacks competition it hasn't made them lazy. The food is very good and the service was pleasant and attentive.

Typical Huasteca restuarant, went here for breakfast, and had Rancho Huevos and the typical Husateca breakfast of enchiladas. Place was very clean, and all ingredients looked fresh. Nice staff cooking and serving. We had the added bonus of a guitar singer who came by and sand for us; breakfast with music. Recommended for a local experience.
