While in Texas for 4 months we have time to 'seek out' some great places to eat.We discovered The Alamo Restaurant is a FAVORITE. It used to be pink but is now a calming beige. They've just remodeled and soon to finish the inside. The quaint arches now invite you to sit in the extended area. They're ALWAYS busy and we've always gotten great service and wonderful food. It doesn't matter if you're going for breakfast or lunch. Great Mexican dishes and American if that's your preference. Note: I've never had Chalupas where the tortilla didn't get soggy before I finished them. Theirs are GREAT! Always crispy. Oh, and there's a bakery next door! Another yummy treat.
Our family stopped thru San Juan after vacationing in South Padre Island and stumbled into this fantastic bakery! Traditional pastries, pandulces, real soda in the bottle, and a very nice lady behind the counter. Cakes and tortillas are also available here...the heavenly smell when you walk in the door is amazing!
I used to love this place so much. It used to be that you could come here and get 3 patos with res guisado and frijoles and you'd be in heaven for the next 10 minutes. Now the beef is tough and disgusting, and the service is horrible. Let's hope the owners turn this place around cuz I miss how it used to be.
I ordered the RB Tacos. That came with fajita, queso & avocado. Simply the best the tortilla was homemade and also order a baked potatoe that was good but not that great. The beans that they serve before the meal were also very tasty & you should also try their lemonade which is actually made with lemons lol (: Really recommend this place my favorite âº

This is one of the best Mexican Buffet I have been to. It had several entree items. Enchiladas, of course, as well as several chicken and beef dishes. A number of vegetables and salads, Including Guacamole. The also had bread pudding as well as other desserts.
It's a local place meaning a lot of latino Americans and Mexican nationals. Not winter Texans from I35 way north. Food is good price is cheap. The red and yellow bottles they put on the table are salsa not ketchup and mustard. (Like I thought). Service was fast the place is full. To sum it up good food cheap prices and excellent service.

We ate dinner here three times and were charmed by the friendly service and great food. I had the mole enchiladas twice which were excellent and came close to matching the best mole I've had. I preferred them filled with chicken rather than the cheese option. Each night I had the house salad which was uninspired but adequate. Both myself and my traveling companion had the fish and seafood soup which was excellent, featuring a flavorful broth and filled with much more fish than you'd expect. The restaurant is in a quiet part of town where not much seems to be happening at night but it was safe and unpretentious. The uninviting outside belies the food and warmth inside.

It is 1974 when Juan Francisco "Pancho" Ochoa begins his journey into the restaurant business. It initiates a wonderful family tradition, with the UNIQUE TASTE of great Mexican food. On January 6th, 1975 Pancho creates "El Pollo Loco" concept in his small
So glad this wasnt the usual tex/mex food. The ceviche was great. Had the shrimp, not the fish. The fish is tilapia, btw.I asked for an off menu item. Shrimp enchiladas. The tomatillo sauce was very good. The shrimp was grilled and tasted great in the enchilada. My companion had the combo taco's. Was great and filling. Shrimp- beef and pork.Hey Luke! Thank you for taking the time to share your great review of your experience. We hope to have the chance to have you back again soon!

4/13/19@ 1430. Don't let the one and two star reviews dissuade you. Those reviews are for the old restaurant (about 400 ft South of current location). This restaurant is newer, only about nine months old. The food is some of the best in the valley, the service is second to none and this establishment is very clean. If you don't give this place a try, you are only cheating yourself!! We had to wait for a parking spot at 2:30 in the afternoon....it's that good!!

Well after reading tons of FB posts I was finally able to find out about all the fuss for myself....let me just say I've been missing out. I will never travel to the Valley without making a stop at Delia's...ever!!! First thing that dumbfounded me was the police officer directing traffic... restaurant was PACKED!!!! I'm soooo glad that I didn't drive away...almost did. I could go on and on about the tamales but let me just say that if you're ever in the Valley put Delia's down as a must and pack your patience. The service was great too.
