Café Del Sol is just off the 5 and close to the beach with easy access on/off the Interstate. Staff was welcoming and food and plates arrived hot. The food is not authentic Mexican cuisine as we are used to but it was good Mexican as we were hungry and there was plenty of food. There was ample parking and ample table space. The only critique I would have is that this was our first time to Del Sol and were not used to how the process worked. We ordered and then sat down to relax while our food was prepared. A few other customers came in in the meantime. We then heard something, just a shout, not really sure what was said, but the second time we heard it, it dawned on us, that the staff was telling us our food was ready at the counter. We think he was saying "food up" or something like that. It was bad acoustic in the place, we were tired, and not sure how the procedure worked, but we finally got it! All in all, good food.

Generally, hole-in-the-wall Mexican eateries in San Clemente are acceptable to good. Not this one !... Stopped for breakfast and ordered 3-4 different things... Huevos , Quesadillas, Tacos. Everything looked tired and tasted weird.... The place is cheap so did not waste much money but left disappointed.

Had lunch at this location. Food is good and fresh but way too pricey. Also, any order you get does not come with salsas; you have to purchase them. Avocado? Sure they have it for purchase. 1/4 pint (which is those very small dollar coin size containers) for two bucks each! No seating inside restaurant, only outside tables.

I consider myself to be a burrito reviewer of novice-advanced levels, and I'm claiming the Carne Asada at the Surfing Chicken to be of the higher qualities I've consumed. A well portioned burrito with excellent grade Carne Asada Matt and plenty of actually streamed rice and beans. Served with outstanding service!

Dropped by for a quick breakfast and we were quite surprised how good the egg tocos were. Excellent salsa and perfectly scrambled eggs. The fresh fruit cup was outstanding. Quite a simple no frills operation, but it all works.

I recently discovered this little gem in my own town! Do you want authentic Mexican food that you would find across the border in Rosarito or Puerto Nuevo? This is the place!! Their margaritas are the best in town and the street tacos are nothing but delicious! The owner is always on site and is so friendly! I'm only giving it 4 stars though because the center has limited parking and the shopping center is somewhat run down. (No fault of the owner of the restaurant!) This has now become a family favorite! We go at least 2-3x a month! Highly recommend!

When visiting relatives in the San Clemente area, this is my first stop. The location is a bit odd, so look around this shopping area carefully. I ordered the Citrus Slaw Burrito; this was a massive burrito. Lots of good stuffings and an overload of sauce and cheese. I thought I'd have leftovers, but I ate the whole thing. Really friendly wait staff, thanks Crisoforo! I hope these will soon be throughout Texas! Stop here.

Family dinner on a Tuesday evening. Seated quickly in a quiet booth, drinks and water served immediately with hot chips and spicy salsa. Food was good, reasonably priced, no waiting. Service was prompt, friendly. No complaints, all we expected, but nothing outstanding.

"Southern California Mexican" Featuring Prime steaks, seafood, and Mexican favorites. An Orange County favorite for Mexican dining.
So glad we followed a rave recommendation which led us to this place, because if anything the rave under sold it! Everything from the moment we walked in was attentive and welcoming, the restaurant's decorations and overall setting is comfortable and laid back but casually elegant at the same time. We had a very nice server who was friendly and not hovering. Now for the food - all I can say is wow! The free chips and salsas were amazing, with three different levels of heat to choose from and warm corn chips. We didn't try the really hot salsa but the other two had great flavor. My husband and I shared two dishes - short rib tacos and crispy pork carnitas and both were well prepared, tasty and we enjoyed every bite. There are lots of good margarita choices and they were also well made. We don't live in California but next time we're in that area again the restaurant is well worth a return visit for sure!
