Find out what Mexican restaurants to try in Atascadero. Atascadero is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California, about equidistant from Los Angeles and San Francisco on U.S. Route 101. Things to do in Atascadero
I visited Daniel's with a large group of friends (arranged ahead of time so the staff was aware of the visit ahead of time and the order was even called in complete ahead of time). They were very efficient getting food out to us in a timely manner even though there was only one waitress working at the time. It struck me as odd that there were a limited number of available glasses so some of those drinking water were served in small Dixie-cup like containers. I'm guessing because they're fairly new they don't have everything quite stocked yet for more than a dozen or so guests at a time. The nachos were very good and I would visit again to order them. The carnitas taco was so-so, the meat wasn't incredibly flavorful or shredded or chunky like I was expecting but more of a ground consistency, so I probably would go with a different item if I return. The primary reason I only give an "average" rating is the live mariachi player. He was talented, but the room is FAR too small for someone to play live in it. Honestly I ended up taking several ibuprofen and left earlier than the others in my party because I simply could not handle it any longer. I appreciate the attempt at authenticity, but he had a set of pipes on him that could easily overpower a room 5 times the size. It was just way too much sound. If I was calling in an order for nachos and picking them up to go, I'd consider visiting again, but it really isn't the best Mexican food option in Atascadero.
We needed lunch on our road trip. We pulled off in Atascadero and started looking - pulled in by Vons Grocery Store and found this Mexican place. Excellent and quick service. Big chimichanga. Excellent Parrilla Bowl . Food is delicious. Salsa bar great.Dogs can be outside at the tables. This will be our new âgo toâ when driving from northern Cal to Santa Barbara.

We had several different meals here. Large servings.....excellent food. The steak that was covered with veges was awesome...the side of beans and rice that came with it were very good. The flour tortillias are good and the salad they served before the meal was also good....My husband got the puerco verde and it was wonderful. They also gave me a small bowl with puerco verde (I requested this) to have with the steak and it really set it off. Go to this restaurant...you won't be sorry

This place is called El Taco de Mexico, and is completely different than the Taco de Mexico in San Luis Obispo. The food quality is bad here. I ordered 2 Pastor soft tacos, a Chicken hard taco, and a Carnitas burrito, but for some reason I got all the same meat. When I asked for extra hot sauce, they replied the food already has hot sauce on it. I didn't get any extra hot sauce. They wrap everything in paper, so if you have to drive any distance by the time you get there the food is cold and they still wrap a wet burrito in paper, so it is just a mess and no longer a burrito. When, I was there, no one was there, so it isn't liked the mixed orders. You might get better food quality and service at Taco Bell.

Sunday night, winding down, we came to this small, family run restaurant while staying in Atascadero. Food and service were fantastic! I had the Pozole, while my husband enjoyed the Carnitas (crispy style). Huge portions, and the flavors were truly authentic. A definite stop for us next time we are in town.

This was our first time eating at Pedro's and I'm glad we finally stopped in to give it a try. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the servers were friendly. The entrance to the restaurant gets quite crowded if you're coming in and somebody is waiting to pay their bill. The food was good. Fresh tortilla chips and yummy salsa! They have a good variety on their menu and their prices are fairly reasonable. We both had a dish with a taco in it but we weren't fans of the taco shell. Mostly positive about the food but negative marks because their restrooms are up some stairs (maybe 10 of them). The railing was a little too loose for my liking. The women's restroom is in need of repair (broken doorknob to the first door to the restroom). We'll go back.

I went here for dinner and purchased a chicken burrito. The burrito was tasty and a good size. The staff here were helpful and friendly. I recommend this place for a quick bite.

My family and I really enjoyed our stop here for breakfast. My husband and I split a breakfast burrito and our daughters had a Mickey pancake with eggs and bacon. Girls wolfed down their breakfast and we really liked our burritos. Very cute place and service was great!

It's just a simple, no frills, excellent food restaurant. If you require fine dining with linen table cloths, this isn't the place for you. If all you care about is cleanliness and good Mexican food, you'll love this restaurant. It's a little bit self serve but mostly quick and efficient table service by the owner. The food servings are more than generous and I'm a big eater. My wife had the pork tacos and really enjoyed the flavor. She added the pico from the self serve salsa bar and found it very fresh with a nice zing. I had the fajitas and they were wonderful and a huge portion. It's too bad we're traveling or we'd love to try some of the other selections on our next visit.

We were looking for an informal place to eat on our first night in Atascadero. The hotel recommended this restaurant. The chips and salsa were good. I had fish, which was tasty. The other three people had more traditional Mexican dishes and said they were good. There was a good selection of drinks, including beer and margaritas. It is within walking distance of the Carlton Hotel, where we were staying. It is a good choice in Atascadero.
