Reviews on Mexican food in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. Ajijic, a small idyllic town in Mexico, is the perfect setting to enjoy a quiet and relaxing holiday. Enjoy a night of lively music in the plaza of this picturesque town or enjoy a stroll along the lakeside path. Visit the colorful Chapala handicrafts market, or relax and enjoy lunch and a beautiful view at the Beergarden restaurant by the pier. If you’re traveling with children, take them to Christiania Park, right next to the market. At the park, they can play on the expansive lawn or on the playground. We stopped in for breakfast for our first morning here. Davids is reliable and inexpensive. We dont usually look for cheap eats, this is in between cheap and midrange. Davids is yummy and will keep you fueled for the day. Clean too. As an experienced traveler, this is important. BYW, no dogs wondering in as many other restaurants allow.

Steakhouse, seafood and pasta. Fine cuts of beef, seafood and Mexican "molcajetes". The best and most unique flavors and ambiance in Ajijic. Excellent service. Live romantic music and dancing every Friday. Open year round.
Our first time there, service was very good, staff attentive. Drinks were delicious and the free tequila an added bonus. Our food choices were enjoyed by all. It was a nice touch that the owner stopped by the table.

Los Telares has an extensive menu, good food and a beautiful patio where you can enjoy both.We went there late in the afternoon, in between lunch and dinner, and enjoyed the tranquility of having the place to ourselves and a resident kitty cat. Our friends had an amazing piece of grilled tuna and an apple sauce, my wife had Pollo Pipian, chicken in pumpkin seed sauce, which was vmild and yet tasty, and I had the Molcajete, a hot stone bowl with a variety of meats and vegetables. The Molcajete was a bit too rich in cheese for my taste. It ended up tasting like a pizza. If you order this, I would recommend asking them to cut the cheese portion by half. All in all, a good restaurant with great ambiance.

Wow! The molcejete with steak, chicken and shrimp and cheese is so awesome here. Big enough to share with two or three friends. We've eaten here a few times and food is always good. Stop by and try it, right off the plaza.

Super relaxing atmosphere, organic ingredients, omelets, juice bar, acaà bowls, superfoods and lunch that changes every day, we take care of all the details so that make you have a unique and different experience every breakfast or lunch
Machima has a wonderful selection of breakfast and lunch items, all beautifully prepared and presented. If you just want a smoothie or a juice bend, there are several choices. If youâd like a fresh made waffle with avocado and egg, topped with veggies, no problem...one of my favorites. There are lots of choices, most of it organic, all of it healthy. You will leave with a full belly, and no guilt. If you are lucky enough to get reservations for their special occasion dinners (they are otherwise just breakfast and lunch), you will not be disappointed. They put on a special fixed price menu with live music, for a delightful evening.

For a number of years I have consistently eaten their Burrito de Pollo (Chicken Burrito), my favorite. After reading some reviews about their Fish and Chips, I had to give it a try. Yes I was not disappointed with my choice of their Sea Bass fish which was lightly battered and cooked to perfection. The fish was not greasy and the serving came with a generous amount of french fries and a side of coleslaw. I was offered their Maui Maui fish which I will have to try the next time. A very tasty lunch with a well chilled Negra Modelo beer for $140 pesos, tip included.

A great place to eat when you visit Chapala, amazing views, free boats rides, delicious food and a familiar environment.
My mother and I saw this highly rated restaurant a little west of Ajijic, and had not been disappointed by any 4.5 star-rated restaurants on our trip... until now. We simply came to have a couple drinks down by the water, and share an appetizer of ceviche. It is worth noting that I speak fluent Spanish, but my mother does not, so I was doing all of the ordering. To accompany our drinks, I asked for two glasses of water (free). Next thing I knew, the waiter was bringing over two bottles of water. I didnât say anything at the time, but shouldâve seen this as a sign of things to come. After finishing our drinks and plate of ceviche (mediocre at best) we asked for our check to leave. The waiter brought a piece of paper with just a number on it, 520 pesos, and scribbled Spanish stating that this was the total after the suggested tip. (Yes, for two drinks, two âwatersâ and an appetizer- WAY overpriced) Tucked behind this paper was an itemized bill for 435 pesos. I handed over a credit card and he asked me what I would like to add for a tip. I said 15% (yes, even in Mexico with mediocre food and service I am still going to be generous). Next thing I knew, I was signing a bill that added 100 pesos (25% tip!) for a total of 535. I looked him in the eye and told him no, I said 15%. He acted innocent and apologized, as if it was somehow a misunderstanding, and then fumbled around to find some change in his pocket in order to reimburse me in the amount of 35 pesos. Did I care enough to let if sour the evening? Of course not. But as someone who relies on TripAdvisor for restaurant recommendations, I thought Iâd share my experience at this â4.5 starâ place. And let others know that I certainly will not be going back.

EXCELLENT PRICES!One common complaint I hear around the Lake Chapala area is that it is hard to find good Mexican food. There is every kind of imaginable restaurant in this region, and it is kind of true that good Mexican food is difficult to find. Well, your troubles are over.Rose and I just kind of stumbled into this place one day, and Boy! Are we glad we did. We have been back several times, yesterday for lunch and this morning for breakfast.Every time we came here we were greeted (in Spanish), quickly seated and served. The menu (pictured here if TA allows it) is varied and on the back it has daily specials for every day except Sunday. We have never had a meal there that we did not enjoy. Food is served quickly, hot and the wait staff is very attentive. We have only had to wait to be seated once and that was about two minutes. They have a unisex bathroom that is not luxurious but clean and adequate. It is conveniently located directly across from the taxi stand at the Plaza Ajijic. Additional info for the questions asked below: You CAN get delivery if you are within walking distance.Vegetarians can order the chile relleno (has cheese). I know they serve beer, maybe wine, no hard stuff.

Our Cuisine is a fusion of modern Argentinian, French, Mexican and Spanish flavors. Throughout the years we have experimented with many ingredients and dishes from all over the world. At first we shared these treats with our family and friends and now we
We come here regularly. Because the food and service are great. Nice atmosphere. And Ray is always there to greet his guests.Last night we went to attend 10 minute plays written by the late Mark Boyer. They were intriguing, excellent, well acted. And preceded by another great meal.I ordered the Blanco Domenech. Tilapia with rice doesnât even come close to doing it justice. So I took a picture. My wife ordered the shrimp brochettes a las casa, shrimp on a bed of guacamole on top of toast with corn flake crumbs. Delicious isnât a sufficient word to describe it.On Zaragoza off the beaten path. A gem to be discovered. ¡Muchas gracias!

Weâve eaten at Teocintle several times this summer and without exception, all of our meals have been outstanding. The preparation of grouper was excellent as was their version of the traditional Jalisco dish, carne en su jugo (beef in its juices)...a wonderful stew-like dish. They have vegetarian options and however they do their shrimp....always terrific! Ricardo is a gracious host and Gloria is a very talented chef. You canât go wrong at Teocintle...unless you show up without a reservation. Itâs almost always busy.
