Restaurant GUSTAV We are known for Antonio Colaianniâs sensual cuisine. His cuisine is Mediterranean â the dishes are modern interpretations of culinary classics with an Italian touch. We offer a new business lunch weekly and our creative menu is changed
This is not a review of Gustav's Michelin-starred restaurant, which awaits our first visit. It concerns the hotel's delightful ground-floor café and confiserie, which we now have visited twice. Tired of seeking a pleasant place for Saturday lunchtime's light lunch in Zurich's busy Bahnhofstrasse and weary of the permanent crush in Globus's fashionable coffee shop, we found this place as we explored the boutique shops in the up-and-coming Kreis 4 area of Zurich. A few steps from the edgy Langstrasse and near the end of the new 'place to be' quarter bounded by Europaallée and Lagerstrasse, Gustav's coffee shop is a tranquil refuge from Saturday shopping. We were greeted by friendly and professional staff and seated at a pleasant table for two by the window. We chose the house specialty of Italian tartines, with a well-recommended glass of white wine to accompany it. These toast slices topped with delicious ingredients were a pleasure for the senses in design, smell and taste. For those who do not have the appetite for a large lunch, these are perfect. We followed with excellent coffee and patisserie which appealed to the senses just as much as the tartines. Not a large place and tables are limited, but well worth visiting for the food, service and ambiance. We have added this to our shortlist of 'go-to' places in Zurich.

Homemade pasta...
We picked this restaurant partly because of TripAdvisor reviews and partly because their website talked about slow, relaxing meals. That second part certainly did not happen. We arrived at 7:30 pm and completed. Meal complete with drinks, appetizer, and mains in an hour. The food was delicious and spot on in terms of flavor and quantity. However, before our appetizer was finished, our mains arrived without any apology for the poor timing. The service was brusque and rushed and we did not feel particularly welcome. So if the service was more welcoming and timed, this could have been a four star review. The eggplant parmigiana was very good. The ravioli filled with pumpkin and sausage tastedGood, but the cook neglected the sausage. We didnât complain but this cost the other star. Dear Guest,We appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences with us. So sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. But please do not expect us like a 5 star Hotel. We are not high class Italian Restaurant, just a small, friendly restaurant famed for its home-made Pasta. Although we have not fully met your expectation, we hope to welcome you back, to convince you of the quality of the house and the team.Best regards,EnzoBest regards,Enzo

The food was good, the reservation was smooth, but in general we were very underwhelmed and are puzzled by the fantastically high rating on tripadvisor, which is why we wanted to share a review. This is a restaurant that we would have found by the dozens in London or Singapore where we used to live. The food was fresh and it was very tasty, but the menu was very limited and we could actually not find anything we liked (Vitello Tonnato as the only meat option when there are at least 2 overpriced ravioli dishes, for example; and for fish only the raw tartar...all of this is way too taste-specific and there was non dish that would suit a more general palate. The menu changes every month, and it had changed on that particular day with the menu not available on the website...we actually saw other parties sit down and ask about items on the menu and leave again, but we decided to stay). Desert was also overpriced and not that great. We had a table outside, which was on the sidewalk with many people walking by very close to us (and given it is adjacent to Langstrasse, these people were sometimes not very pleasant or asking us for money). In general, this is a very expensive option for a night out, food is good, but we were looking for an anniversary dinner/special experience, which is clearly was not.Dear chooun14Thank you so much for your review. We apologize for the inconvenience regarding not timely updating of our menu on our webpage. Unfortunately there was a technical error with our server. However itâs true that our menu is limited, but it changes completely every month and this is how our concept works. We serve seasonal dishes and for August we offer a light but a thoughtful menu. Additionally itâs important to tell you, that we work with vegetables and fruits from our own garden. In conclusion we want to mention, that in this district of the city different people roam around and we unfortunately donât have any influence on it.Thank you so much for coming and we hope that you visit us again, maybe in the winter months with dishes that you may prefer more.Kind RegardsJohnny

Wow, what a fantastic lunch along the Limmat River in Old Town Zurich! It started with fresh baked bread (delicious) and then I ordered the veal. Zurich Style he says is not breaded, and itâs in a rich mush team sauce that will force you to use the bread to get every drop off the plate. As I did. Wonderful.

The cabbie couldn't really find the place because it was not what he was really looking for, I believe. And my wife and I felt more or less the same way. But there it was; not very impressive on the outside, and the inside was only slightly better. But the service was marvelous and the food was superb. The wine list was pretty good, too, BUT -- like everything else in this wonderful old city -- EXPENSIVE. I'd still recommend it highly.Dear GuestWe are pleased to hear that we were able to convince you of our product and services despite initial difficulties.Thank you very much for your recommandation and for the dedicated time to write this feedback. We would be happy to welcome and spoil you again in the nearer future. In the meantime we wish you all the best.Best regardsAnita Ladner, Restaurationsleiterin

Feels good to just have a beer and eat some tapas, particularly montaditos, those little pieces of bread with a lot of good stuff mounted on top.Come with friends, drink beer after beer, a very good selection, and enjoy those little tapas. Other things available as well that you do not share...

This is a really nice restaurant but is a little on the pricey side. Our starters were 26 chf each (see pictures) and my steak around 60 chf. But if you are willing to pay a bit more to have great service and good food this is a good choice - highly recommend

So happy we visited La Fonte! The pizzas were outstanding and the service was excellent. Also, they are very reasonably priced, which is a nice change of pace in Zurich!
