Each time I'm visiting Italy, I'm trying to come to Salsomaggior Terme especially to have a meal at Osteria del Castello. I'm always getting top quality food, excellent service and warm personal greetings from the owner. Caramelized onion and tortelli with truffle sauce remain may favorite. If you are in Salsomaggiore Terme or passing by, stop by Osteria del Castello for true taste of Italy.

We had an amazing lunch here. Relaxed, beautiful food paired with great wines and terrific service! The food was both representative of the region but complex and varied as well. Beautiful and lovingly prepared cuisine by thoughtful staff. Do not hesitate to stop here if you are in the neighborhood or drive here on purpose! It is a dining experience you will enjoy!

In the lower part of the medieval village of Castell'Arquato, along the steep road that leads to the Castle, you find the Restaurant Enoteca del Borgo. Local small, intimate and welcoming, the ideal place to taste the specialities of Piacenza both traditi
Very charming restaurant we visited twice, both times for lunch. On the road to the castle, possibly 75m from the entrance gate. Very charming, patient and helpful staff, and the food, mainly the pasta, was worthy. Being lunch, I might like to suggest the house wine (it was a refreshing, very reasonable Lambrusco) Was fun...

Good first impression..poor english menu. One price in english other in italian menu. You have to be careful with this. Ask several times before ordering anything otherwise you can be surprised at paying (not the good way). Hint: be careful with steak ;) its not 3.9 as stated in english menu although we asked several times..Dear Mr. Sandis,We're very sorry to read your negative feedback; please let us further explain the misunderstanding occurred. Here in Italy the "Fiorentina" steak is always priced in any restaurant for 1 hectogram (1/10 of kilogram), so for 1 Kg of meat (2.2 lbs) you pay 10x the menu price. Even though it's not reasonable to believe that 1Kg steak can be priced 4 euros in a restaurant or anywhere else, we eventually accorded you a huge discount, accepting in fact the amount you were willing to spend. We also had an outdated english menu, that we have already reprint, and we're sorry for that.Best regards,Graziano Besenzi

Love this restaurant, I have been several times and always had a wonderful meal. The owner & staff are most attentive and the menu, although not vast, has fresh, local produce & an excellent wine list. Quite pricey, but well worth the visit.

We had lunch here sat outside in the autumn sun in the beautiful square of the old town. It was so atmospheric and the food and wine were fantastic. We just had a plate of mixed vegetarian anti pasti and a plate of the day, fresh pasta parcels with herbs and ricotta in a sage butter sauce. The anti pasti were some grilled porcini, a melanzane and courgette timbale and a small frittata in a pumpkin sauce...delicious. The owner set our table outside with a linen table cloth and we had a lovely bottle of local red....heaven. Great value too, don't go for the ham and cheese boards next door this is better value.Thank you so much.Massimo.

First of all I suggest everyone who is on his way to Piacenza or Parma to make a detour for a few km in order to reach Castell'Arquato a lovely and enchanting village which will bring you back to Middle Ages. A non touristic route - rather unkonown by Italians too - a historical beauty which is just waiting to be shared. If you are able to do it, park the car and have a healthy walk up to the top of the village where you find the main square ( Piazza Monumentale ). On your way back you will be hungry so that it will be the time to stop : just at the foot of the village you will find the Trattoria del Voltone. Local traditional restaurant, elegant and rustic at the same time located in a medieval building wisely refurbished. The menu is nothing but standard ! The chef offers you selected dishes, interesting matches and fresh ingredients. I guess foreigners might not understand the value of such a cuisine because they are used to expect some stereotypes from Italian food that you won't find here ! You can eat something special, delicious, accompanied by a bottle that you can choose from the comprehensive wine list - even if I would rather suggest to go for some local wines instead. The area is land to some very good wines ( most of them sparkling ) which match perfectly the food. I was impressed by the Monterosso - a local white wine - ( not in the wine list ) which is served like a sort of "house wine". But it is not the usual low profile wine that you find in most restaurants where you order a "house wine". I was told that a local wine maker producing biological wine just bottles that fantastic wine for the restaurant. I was so impressed that I asked the two brothers managing the place to sell a couple of bottles to take home with me. I enjoyed very much the friendly spirit of the brothers, they spent their time explaining dishes and wines and we received also a rather quick service having our son with us ( 8 years old ). The price paid for the bill : very acceptable. Wine list : reasonable prices for high profile labels.

My husband and I are in Italy on holiday for 7 weeks and are spending our first 2 weeks in Borla (Emilia-Romagna). It is a tiny hamlet surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The day we arrived was my husband's birthday and the owner of our flat graciously made reservations for us at a local restaurant, Il Giardino di Borla. We strolled down the street for a minute and arrived at our destination. "Il Giardino"â¦the Gardenâ¦is aptly named as the outside terrace has an abundance of flowering plants, herbs, small trees, etc. The husband and wife team created a truly memorable meal for us including a lovely bottle of local wine along with an herbal digestive after the meal. The total meal for 1 appetizer with a variety of meats, 1 pasta, 1 duck confit meal and the drinks was E55â¦..the food was presented beautifully and was full of subtle flavors and Simone spent considerably time with us explaining the different menu items and the local flavors as this is the first time we have visited this part of Italy. It was a perfect birthday celebration.

This restaurant is amazing. The terrace is a beautiful place to eat and take in wonderful views. The food is superb and the wine list offers a great choice (some are very local). The very-reasonable price top off an outstanding meal. I would recommend to anyone and return if again in the area. Cheers
