We didn't eat because it was too early for spanish lunch. But we did enjoy the coffee and the attentive service.

We had lunch here just on impulse and we're pleasantly surprised- Menu Del Dia was 15 each- I had Chipperones for starter (lovely) then Cordero stew- this was a little fatty but easy enough to remove the fat- it came with roasted potatoes- for desert I had ice cream, which in fact was a cornetto- husband had guajada which would have been a better choice. The bottle of red wine which came in with the price was a young wine of the region- but very good- water was also included in the price.

Tordesillas was not inviting on a cold, foggy December Saturday night but this place lifted the mood! Charming hostess who mimed her way for us through the three course menu, fresh garlic prawns, excellent steak with mushroom sauce, pud, coffee, bottle of wine for Euro 17 each, whilst 20 locals were having a jolly celebration next to us. We had eaten in two other restaurants in town on the recommended list, both welcoming but indifferent food: we recommend this place...

There was a mixup with the order for the starter, which was only very reluctantly rectified. For the mains, two goats cheese salads were served without cheese. When we mentioned this, the waiter said they'd check with the kitchen. When there was no feedback, we asked what had happened. The waiter said the kitchen had forgotten the cheese. They could serve it to us on a separate plate, but we had no appetite for a plate of cheese. There was no apology, but when the bill came and charged us for 2 goats cheese salads, the price of one of the salads was deducted after some discussion. The service was, overall, surly, bordering on the rude. A shame in light of the setting. A simple apology and smile would have left us entirely content, since the food and wine were good.

I wish I could give this awful place a minus score. On a hot late morning we sat down and ordered a large beer each. At every other table, people we sipping drinks and nibbling on tapas - and other people arrived after us and were served their drinks, always with tapas. We eventually got our beers (two girls who arrived after us received their drinks and tapas before we did). When I politely asked (in Spanish) why we had not received the customary little snack, the waiter (probably the propriador) said it was not the custom, although every other table was duly served.. His manner towards us was surly and ungracious, nor did we appreciate (though we understood) his laugh and disparaging remark about "los ingleses" with the guests at another table. We have never done this before, and I hope we never have to do it again, but we can only recommend English people not to visit Don Pancho! We left a tip of two cents of a Euro and the nasty taste of anti-British feeling still lingers when we think about the place.

To be honest I've enjoyed my lunch at this Restaurant every time I visit the area. Fresh, very fresh Fish; excellent meat, and tasty desserts. Additionally the staff is very kind and effective. Usually is packed in the "cheap" Menu area and a little more comfortable, silent and convenient in the area "a la carte". Local cured ham is tremendous, and any suggestion from the maître or the waiters will be tasty for sure.

Fuimos a comer un menú del dÃa, todo estaba sabroso. Era un dÃa muy muy caluroso y en el comedor se estaba a gusto. La atención muy buena y nos sirvieron rápido. Justo lo que buscábamos.

Following positive reviews in Tripadvisor, I decided to give La Lonja a try. I am glad I did as this turned out to be a very nice experience. Food was great, service top notch and the chat with the owner/manager Alberto was a memorable experience. He gave me a review (with tastings) of some of the bodegas in the region. Alberto recommended the food for me;As a starter I had 'Cecina de Leon' - a speciality of the nearby region of Leon. It is certainly worth a try if you like ham. This is ham from air dried and salted beef which gives it a very distinctive strong flavour. As a main course I had an excellent entrecote in mustard sauce ('entrecot de carne roja a la mostaza antigua'). My only complaint was that it was too big a portion - a nice problem to have! I shall be back and then I will try one of the specialities of the house; lobster with rice ('arroz caldoso con bogavante'). I have no doubt that it will be excellent!Unless you like eating alone, I recommend you arrive after 10pm - after all this area is the heart of Castile and people just eat late!
