Let's start with the good things--prices are affordable, although food can be kind of unequal, some dishes were tasty, while others lacked any flavor. For example, the tabbouleh had no salt and no lemon juice and was chock full of parsley, but contained no mint and hardly any bulgur wheat. Service was ok, not great, but not bad either. That was until the chandelier literally fell on top of us. It was a traditional Turkish chandelier, with six heavy spheres of heavy mosaic glass, three of which landed on top of us, barely missing our heads. Had the globes hit us, we would have surely ended up in the hospital! We jumped up from our chairs and looked on in shock. The staff gathered around us, but made no attempt to check if we were ok or to apologize for what happened; they just stood quietly, as if watching a show. We proceeded to clean up our clothes the best we could, while the staff again made no attempt to help. You can see in the picture a waiter removing one of the globes from the table, with a matter-of-fact, even smirking face, as if nothing had happened. After this incident, they moved us to another table, where we finished our meal. When we were done, they just presented us the bill. They didn't offer anything on the house, not even the bottle of water we had ordered. The whole bill was under $60 for 5 people, so really nothing in terms of money, but a small gesture on their part would have meant a lot to us after this scary incident. On our way out, I mentioned how disappointed I was with their reaction and attitude to one the more senior staff. He had a boy run out after us with what we assumed were a few baklavas in a plastic bag, but it was too late, we refused politely and left. I would have given them 1 star, if it wasn't for the acceptable food and affordable prices. Just make sure you don't sit under a chandelier :-)

OPEN ALL SEASON! Good Food Amazing Crew Beautiful view What can you ask for more ?
I came here and ate white hot chocolate, spaghetti and some Ice cream. The music was loud and what I ate was disgusting. I went to my apartament-hotel hungry. Also, slow workers.

With a superb and unique view of the Black Sea, located on the shore at less than 200 meters from the landing point of the fishermen in Costinesti, "Pofta Pescarului" (the Fishermen's Appeal) restaurant will offer you freshly cooked fish&seafood dishes an
On a cloudy Saturday evening, we arrived at the restaurant and found an amazing view over the Black Sea and the Evangelia shipwreck. There weren't so many customers, mainly because of the rain that had fallen previously, and the chilly weather. Yet, all the tables were set and the place looked amazing with the lights on. We were 4 people and we had a previous reservation, so everything went smoothly. The waiter arrived fast, took our drink order and left us the menu, being eager to answer our questions about some fish dishes. We ordered one plateau of seafood for 2 and another of fish and chips for 2, but they are way bigger, one plateau was enough for 4 people. The seafood dish came with delicious grilled polenta and two divine sauces, lutica and garlic sauce. They all tasted amazing, well-cooked and not greasy at all.I kindly recommend the restaurant to all fish and seafood lovers who come to Costinesti, also to those who just want to have a great experience by the seafront.Thumbs up for Pofta Pescarului!
The oldest restaurant/bar from this seaside town. The place is originaly and unique decorated in industrial-mediteraneean style with pieces from diving and navigation history all over the place. Unique seafood recipes with fresh fish and seafruits from th
We came to the restaurant because of the one positive review they have (which I now honestly think it was written by the restaurant's owner)! We waited at a table inside for 15 minutes and no one brought us menus. I had to go and grab some so we can decide what to eat (we were starving). In the meantime, we moved at a table outside where we waited 10 more minutes until a waitress came. We tried to order multiple things but for most of them her answer was "we don't have it". One of my friends wanted to order French fries with cheese on top and some tomatoes but the waitress told him that she can't go with that order to the kitchen because that's food that you normally order for breakfast! In the end, the food arrived but it wasn't what we expected at all. The potatoes lacked the onion and the bacon that make the whole "cartofi taranesti" dish what it is, the salad of the house had mayo in it which in combination with eggs and fried snitzel couldn't be eaten, the "hamsii" were so bad that we couldn't even touch them and, on top of everything, the waitress forgot to bring one of the dishes we ordered. The wine was also really bad so we left almost the entire bottle on the table. At some point, after the first round of food arrived, we asked another waitress to bring us another Greek salad and she was very surprised that we wanted to order something else on top of what we had already ordered, letting us know that she was going to ask if it was possible. To make our night even more unpleasant, when we received the check I let the waitress know that the polenta and cheese we order never arrived. Her attitude was as if it was our duty to keep bugging her to bring us everything we asked for (when whenever we asked for something her attitude was like it was the last thing she planned on doing) and that because we didn't do so, she was now going to have to pay for it out of her own pocket. We informed her it wasn't our problem and her reply was that we should divide the amount between us and pay for what we didn't receive (in the meantime we realized that on the check there was a big bottle of water that we didn't order nor received for which she wanted us to pay for as well). In the end, she was the one pissed when one of us didn't even get to have dinner tonight! Bottom line, don't eat here. Rude staff, mediocre food!!!

Located right nerby the beach Poarta Apelor offers an amazing sea view and a menu that includes plenty of fish varieties. We tried the seafood risotto and turbot served along with mashed potatoes and truffles. The risotto was lacking salt and overall was an average dish. On the otherhand the turbot - which we served fried at the waiter's suggestion - was tasty and well done. However, service and costumer care were bad if not awful. The waiters didn't want to open the umbrelas on the terrace despite specifically being ask to (30 degrees with full sun) and were very grumpy and unfriendly.Tips- Access to the restaurant is difficult by car but once you reach the restaurant they do have a parking.- Book a room if you want a shaded table and don't like being bossed around by the staff.

We explored the area and took a chance trying this amazing restaurant right on the sea.shore. 5 of us tried different options on the starters and main meal menu and all but one of us were happy. I was unhappy with the turbot, which was one of the most expensive pieces on the menu, but the portion was ridiculously small and I could barely taste it. All the other food I tasted was excellent. I suppose the turbot was out of season and they should not have served it. Ambiance was clean and our server was quick, efficient and polite. I definitely consider this restaurant experience as better than the next door competition, Pescaria lui Matei. The menus had an English option and the server managed proper communication in English.
