Located outside Salon, in a residential/business area. Nice terrace, brasserie. People there extremely nice. I went there because they claim serving one of the best Tartare. And guess, they are right...Prepare on the top, the way we liked it in Belgium...Very good price. Local people

I can assure you that this is currently the best restaurant in Salon de Provence. I can say that, because I've been to nearly all the restaurants in the area. It's a high quality fish restaurant, with their own fish shop in the next building. We have been there three times and always enjoyed it. There is currently building work outside in Place Morgan, but don't be put off by that. It's true that it sometimes takes a while for the food to arrive, but you can see the cooks working in the kitchen, so you know the dishes are prepared individually, not in advance. I can recommend the 'marmite' de poisson (but you have to like shellfish). We went in the evening, but they also do a reasonably priced lunchtime menu.

One of the more popular restaurants in town, on the beautiful square with the towns famous fountain, so booking a table is recommended. We had a quick dinner on a weekday. Very friendly and fast service, by the waiters who speak english. Food was classic basic french bistro style. Recommended.

We were a middle aged lady's birthday party of 5 adults and 2 children - slightly too cosily fitted on one of the oval tables as pictured here. (unless TA changes the picture). The menu layout was simply confusing, as were the English translations of some of the dishes and Menu section headings ("A Gentleman's Stoll" became clearer when the waiter said "Flaneur" - apparently they think this not an English word). Things became slightly clearer once we had a French menu and could confirm that the "English" word "Perdraux" became "Perdreau" in French. And a very tasty Partridge it was too. Even without Arbre de Poires". Shot not farmed (unless the perfide Francaise dose them with shot). We had confirmed in advance that although unmentioned on their website simpler meals were available for children. These were not at all chicken nuggets and chips but real food at tolerable prices. The food was excellent. A really high "Michelin starred" standard. Service was polite friendly and helpful but nowhere near the staffing levels demanded by the Red Book. Staff and fellow guests at least pretended to be relaxed about the antics of the lively disabled teenager in our party.Menus at €45 and €60 not outlandish for the quality though unclear which was which. We were all charged €60 though only 2 of 5 adults had cheese. All had a preordered birthday gateau with one candle to relight as needed. As others have mentioned the wine list was not cheap - mostly over €100, but some ~€40. We ordered a Pouilly Fumy (?Fuisse?) which was good and 2 bottles of Ch Giscours (Bordeaux) which seemed reasonable at (IIRC) ~€56. I did not check the bill in detail on the night - at just under €600 for 5+2 it seemed near enough after the Armagnac (NO Eau-de-vie!!!) .The next day someone asked me why I had selected Ch Giscours - because I knew it and the price seemed tolerable - and indeed when we googled it they seemed to be selling at not much more that retail shop prices. Even more confused when we dug out the bill and found it listed and charged the other Bordeaux - Ch Senejac at €48. I don't know it so might not have noticed the taste if that is what we had - but I'm fairly sure I read the label at least for the first bottle! We had gone up the hill in 2 cars intending that half our party would taxi home, but at ~11pm they told us that despite trying 10 firms there were no Taxis to be had. Or Ubers. So one poor sober soul had to run a shuttle. But what if we had all been drinking? And finally - the view. An amazing huge panorama which will still impress you after reading tihs.

We had an excellent lunch at L'Olivier (and saw it full on other occasions) from a really interesting menu, contemporary without trying too hard. Great service, excellent food and a lovely setting (outside, August). Reservations important (as seems to be the case everywhere half-decent in Salon). I would return here at any opportunity (we tried to re-book for a second visit on our trip, but couldn't get in), this seems to be a rare bright spot in an otherwise rather traditional and uninspiring food environment.

Pizzeria Lou Paradou

Knowing we were going to be in Salon-de-Provence at lunchtime, we had three restaurants which were highly regarded by reviewers. However, when we got to town, all three were virtually empty. Hmmmm . . . Lou Paradou, however, was packed with locals. We were seated within about 10 minutes, and we both ordered the lunch formula. The plat du jour was a delicious pot au feu, a generous portion served with a marrow bone, and dessert was galette de roi, the traditional seasonal almond dessert. Both were delicious, and for 12.50€ our lunch was reasonably priced. We did see many pizzas being served and they looked delicious, as well. Should we be back in Salon for lunch, we would return to try other items on the menu.

Good home style cooking, huge servings and definitely something for everyone. My French is reasonable but they were able to provide an English version for my husband. There are many choices, including beef en brochette (skewered beef cubes) a variety of chicken , duck and seafood, as well as vegetarian options. This isn't refined dining, but honest good plain French cuisine prepared by Madame, her husband is the host.Reasonably priced, and I have to say the dessert (chocolate cake) was absolutely outstanding.I said the servings were huge....I certainly couldn't finish my main, my husband ate 40% of it, whilst he chuckled that the two elderly ladies sitting behind us demolished not only their mains, but also the dessert.I would come back here because I suspect being good honest local cuisine, it's also consistent.
