Find out what Mediterranean restaurants to try in Platres. Platres (Greek: Πλάτρες) is a mountainous village in Cyprus. It is located on the southern slopes of the Troödos Mountains (Greek: Τρόοδος, Turkish: Trodos) and is one of the Krasochoria (Greek: Κρασοχώρια) (wine villages). Platres is the largest Troodos resort, situated about 5km from Troodos square, 25 kilometers (16 mi) north-west of Limassol and 45 kilometers (28 mi) south-west of the capital Nicosia. Platres is a very old village and is mentioned among the 119 villages of the Limassol district that existed during the Lusignan Era (1192-1489 AD) and the Venetian Era (1489-1571 AD). Platres or Pano Platres (Upper Plátres) (Greek: Πάνω Πλάτρες, Turkish: Yukarı Platres) is the principal hill resort of Cyprus. The town has a resident population of fewer than 300, but this can swell to 10000 during tourist seasons.

There a quite a few Restaurants in the area. We strolled around and checked menues, seating and ambience. This one fitted the bill. It was fairly busy but the staff were pleasant and attentive. Nice view from where we sat and best of all a cooling breeze in the heat of the day

Twenty years since my last visit, being in the area and having a quite satisfying experience last time, I have decided to have lunch in this restaurant. Absolute disappointment!Four out of seven dishes were cold and tasting funny, the so called "local village wine" out of a traditional carafe was tasting more or less the same like the cheap wine I'm using at home for cooking. If the locals are producing such a quality of wine they are committing a suicide. The bill was another surprise! They charge the wine for â¬15 while their cheapest bottled wine cost â¬19 and â¬7 for a bowl of saladâ¦!A locals and tourists trap where the quality of food is poor the taste is between poor and medium and shamelessly overpriced. There were a lot of tourists accompanied by their guides proofs that the owner pays commission to the tourist guides to trap their customers and there were very few locals prooving that this tavern has already been rejected by Cypriots.

Most of the restaurants were closed by the time we arrived in Omodos. This one was still open and received us with friendly service. The dishes - moussaka and stuffed pepper - were large and good, though not great as they weren't as flavourful as Greek food can be. Still a good choice in Omodos.

Proud to be serving you the best of traditional Cypriot cuisine at an altitude of 910 meters, since 1983. Located in the heart of Phini Village.
After hearing many good comments about the Phini tavern, I had the fortunate experience of trying it myself last weekend. All dishes were very tasty and well prepared, variety was good, and quantity plenty. The whole atmosphere of the tavern is great, especially on cold winter nights, when the fireplace is lit and heating the place.Maze is great, but my recommendation is to also try the trout with garlic sauce! :)

We visited this restaurant with a group of 8 friends. The owners could not have been more hospitable and looked after us very well. The food was amazing and each of us was delighted with our choice of dish. I can highly recommend the stuffed zucchini flowers!

tel. 25 813131- fax 25 813130. Trout farm & restaurant- [email protected] -FANTASTIC PLACE & FRESH FOOD cheap
Let's start with the positive side: located in the mountain forest next to a brook that grant lively atmosphere and good temperature even in the hottest summertime. It is easy to find, big parking lot and many people can be seated at the same time. But the veggie burger was extremely basic, instead of sauce they gave a small packet mayonnaise and ketchup. The chairs and the whole interior is very old fashioned in a negative manner. The prices are low, indeed, and the main dish includes complimentary dessert that you can get as self service from a table inside.Summarized this place is recommended for school excursions or tourists who want to stop for a cheap bite.

âThe Village Restaurantâ in Platres belongs to Agi Jacovides, the owner of Semiramis Hotel. I was amazed with the delicious cuisine of Agi and he was telling me that he is cooking everything by himself only. Nobody else helps in the kitchen. He is very pa
We decided to visit this tavern last weekend. What a mistake! We live in Cyprus. We are not picky. We ordered Chicken and Moussaka dishes. The food was microwaved, cooked at least 24 hours before being served. We ordered Coca-Cola and we received it in a glass from a big plastic bottle (costs 2 euro that glass). They asked us if we would like to order salad and we said no thank you â but they served us salad which was from yesterday and charged us 5 euro for near 100 grams. Usually taverns in Cyprus offer free coffee at the end after dinner but here they charged us 2.50 euro for 1 coffee. One of the waiters was very rude. When we complained politely he said â âthis is how we do it at the Village Tavernâ.I strongly advise you not to go! Better buy sandwiches from the nearby shop, honestly.

We love the food here, the trout is always beautifully cooked and well worth the trip. Selection of wines very good and the buffet selection of desserts are the perfect way to end your meal.We love coming here to escape the humidity in the summer and to enjoy the beautiful landscape at any time of the year.Sundayâs are always busy so booking is essential.Sadly, the service is a bit hit and miss. The staff are exceptionally polite, but often have to be chased for drinks or to take your order. Our main course arrived whilst we were still eating our starters which was disappointing and rushed. However, the overall experience is worth a visit.

We visited this fantastic family run, local taverna today on our way down the mountains at Troodos. Couldnât have have found a better place to have lunch. What fabulous meals and huge portions of freshly cooked bbq food. Pork kebabs, beef stew, lamb chops and delicious herby home-made chips! Fab selection of dips to go with a freshly made Greek-style salad. Only downside is itâs too far away from our holiday apartment to regularly visit. Definitely worth a visit, we will definitely return!
