This place really is a fantastic gem. Having visited last year it was on our list for a visit. I swear my mouth starts to water as we approach. It's a traditional style taverna with a modern twist. Freshly prepared/cooked food, so full of taste. Your food is served Meze style which we love. This year we sadly over ordered but no problem, it was popped into a box for lunch at the beach the next day. We will return next year .

A family restaurant with traditional greek food and fresh sea food
My girlfriend and I were first drawn to this restaurant by the fact that they were having live music there on friday night. So we turned up and ordered drinks, and soon enough the music started and the restaurant filled up. The waitress seemed annoyed that we hadn't ordered food immediately, and when we decided what we wanted, she took other people's orders before ours despite the fact that we had been the first to arrive. We had to ask her to take our order about three times before she actually did it. The food took too long to arrive, and it was unjustified because my girlfriend's shrimp was raw inside and my moussaka tasted like blu-tack. The waitress seemed horrified that I had asked her to replace my dirty fork. At the end of our meal (I had started to feel nauseous halfway through my blu-tack) The waitress charged us about 4 euros more than our bill should have come to, based on the menu prices. I was feeling too sick and bloated to argue with her and was just keen to escape. The music was good but the waitress and the poor quality food spoilt our evening.

Lovely family run Taverna think the name goes well back but i didnt see it the last time i went walking through in 1979,in fact i only recall one place that was back in old hersonisos.Anyway we ordered greek salad, sagnaki then pork souvlaki and the best ever MOUSAKKA you could eat.Washed down with quality village wine.Anything wrong ? very rushed service they want you in and out a bit too quick, and far too many cats under your feet.

Not on the main street but easy to find because its next to the village church. They offer the usual Greek food but concentrate on one special dish which changes everyday which I think is a good idea - better to offer one excellent dish than many mediocre ones! Also Kosta boasts that their seafood is fresh and the octopus was delicious. Go, you wont be sorry!!

Never ate in here but had the most lovely time one night drinking coffee and brandy sat at the front in nice chairs.Very romantic lighting and chilled atmosphere with tasteful background music. The front tables for dining overlooking the bay are very popular but i just like to drift along not rush to get best seats in the house so didnt get to eat but will next year i hope.

Excellent Taverna - and you only have 4 reviews of places in this very popular tourist destination at present. Delicious, traditional Cretan foods - including the only dolmades (stuffed vine leaves) that my girlfriends has ever eaten and superb oven-baked
We discovered Aposperida last year on our first visit to Piskopiano. We were so impressed with the lovely staff, great service, excellent food and value for money that we had to stop ourselves from eating there very night. We returned to Piskopiano again this September and our first port of all straight from arriving (at midnight) was to Aposperida. We understood perfectly that the food service was finished, but we had a couple of drinks and the staff remembered us from last year. Petros, Georgios (apologies for the spelling us incorrect) are a delight and they have a new young waiter that they are training who is also very good. Our tradition has become to have our first and last meal at Aposperida (and a few others inbetween!). I cannot praise or recommend this establishment highly enough. We hope to see them all again next year.

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant tonight after reading some excellent reviews and we were not disappointed! The food was delicious. We chose to share 5 small meze dishes, we had 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine and the whole thing came to 30 euros! Fabulous value for money and the food was real authentic cretan food. Fabulous.

Ambrosia The Food of the Gods!
This excellent restaurant/taverna has been around for years, and never disappoints. The seafood dishes are fresh from the Med and extremely well prepared. Plus, the local traditional Cretan dishes are among the finest I've ever tasted. Niko, the host, welcomes you with a truly warm greeting and the service is fast, friendly and efficient.
