In a small road in the center of Ostia Molo Diciassette is a small cozy restaurant serving excellent seafood. The menu is limited but all what we had was of very high quality. Interesting wine selection, original list of desserts, service precise and quick. Definitely recommended.

In Ostia Antica, in the historical center, in front of the entrance to the village, the Castle of Julius II and the excavations of the Roman age, there is L'Alimentari Bistrot with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will make you feel at home. Excellent
We stopped in here on a whim as it looked so inviting from the outside looking in. My husband and I had come down from Rome in a wet and blustery day to explore Ostia Antica archeological site ( very worthwhile), became sidetracked on the way back to the train station by the fort/castle and happened to walk past. Lovely ambience here, impressive display of deli goods and enjoyable service. We had a shared antipasto board and a glass of Prosecco each. If we werenât travelling back to Rome then we could have easily settled in for the afternoon. A lucky find!Tanks for your lovely fieedbeakHope to see you soon againarrivederci a presto l'ALIMENTARI

We have try a lot of different Restaurants around Fiumicino and this is simply awful, se sentito est fisi And we Didn't.... The antipasto was 4 Deep fried Prawns over a Mustard... Pffff... After two pastas... Egg Noodles with 2 baby prawns( Literally 2) and small plate, after Gnocchi in a creamy sauce.... main course a little fillet of fish over 2Kg of Potatoes dry and without any seasoning.... Disgusting.... The service was ok... But we never gonna come back.... It's a waste of money to eat pasta... I will add some pictures .....

Al Bajniero, Ostia Antica, RomeCheck out the earlier review of the Al Bajniero (from July 2017) and youâll see reference to the dancing that features there for much of the year â excepting the summer/holiday months when local dancing shifts into the open and, if the sea is within reach, then beachside open. The social festivities of dancing into the evening with nothing except that stars/night sky above you â comfortable table, meal/drinks available â and people whom you know (if sometimes only vaguely) at the other tables located around the floor â provides those summer images of Italy at its best. Dancing is a family&friends week-end activity â ânonne e nipoti e tutti in mezzoâ.Itâs how we came to find ourselves at Al Bajniero way back â we had followed Mine Host (il mio ospite?) to Ostia Antica from an earlier dance/restaurant place in Casal Palocca and then spent as much time there â dancing, as weâd done earlier at the original place; sharing the venues as-it-were. Al Bajniero offers better facilities â spacious dance floor and better restaurant (with that romantic open-air option too).Mid-August, however, and we were into our dance routines at a place outside Fiumicino; great evening venue with table service and menu to suit â popular local foods with popular prices. Live music. So, no dancing available at Al Bajniero tonight â a Tuesday, but we did have the option of a relatively empty dining room inside with air/con to escape the residual heat of the day. Quiet. Easy to talk. Our friends had called us from the restaurant â had we already eaten that evening? We had not. We were just around the corner, and it took little more than 10 minutes to lock up, hop in the car and join them.Second time here this month; weâd sat outside in the courtyard first time. Inside there was. seating for around 60 people at scattered tables in a long dining room adjacent to the dark empty dance hall next door. Around two dozen diners. Eat here at other times of the year and some nights thereâs dancing and a set meal (three plates - antipasta, primo & dolce) at tables at either end and to one side of the hall with the dance floor in the middle. Buy a meal/dance ticket. Not a dancer? You can still eat in the restaurant and watch the people dancing though the glass windows set in the wall.We passed on the antipasti and opted for primi piatti â pasta choices for the four of us - that popular favourite âspaghetti alle vongoleâ with a bottle of acqua minerale frizzante to share. The plates came heaped with a mix of pasta, cherry tomatoes & clams with a garnish of herbs in olive oil. Our friend delved into her handbag for that small tube of pepperoncino (di Cayenne â hot/chili pepper) that she always carries to further spice up her/our meals and shared it round. You have to add it with care or the meal becomes inedible. We finished with caffe espresso.Service was good â it always is - with the waiter (son of Mine Host) delivering meals, removing plates and providing a constant dialogue that comes from knowing his clients over many years. Food was delicious and full of flavour; just that right kind of appreciation that reminds you why simple Italian cuisine of this kind has travelled the world. We even got to share a few words with Mine Host â he was at the checkout register when we were ready to pay/leave. We paid â¬50 for the four of us â so â¬12.50/meal; good value when eating quality foods and sharing a couple of hours with friends at a comfortable restaurant. The first time that weâd eaten at the Al Bajniero this summer â when weâd sat outside â it was a Saturday and the place was busy â weâd shared a long table part of a group of 14 with the majority eating pizza although there were a handful of contorni/antipasta plates to share as finger food. People were offering a slice or two of their pizza to neighbours as they finished their meal â for the novelty of that different taste. A narrow table means that you have to get up and move around if you want to talk comfortably with people beyond those next to you. Otherwise itâs a case of raising your voice, and the table gets boisterous as the levels in the carafes fall.Costs came to â¬15/person once the plates & drinks had been added up â so â¬30 for the two of us. Good value and typical of local restaurants when the majority diners are regulars from Ostia Antica and surrounding suburbs â but not always, for people wander in from the Ostia Antica Park Hotel next door. The hotel is a popular stopover for late evening arrivals and early morning departures from/at Fiumicino Airport 4 km down the road, with the more adventurous turisti/viaggiatori venturing out for their evening meal. Itâs a great place to introduce yourself to the city or to enjoy that last evening meal of your Roman holiday. .Peter Steele November 2018

I went twice to this friendly but secluded restaurant in the medieval quarter of Ostia Antica. The first time, while I had delicious Saltimbocca, and the owner's family was there enjoying a seafood feast. Rather envious, I asked why there was no fish or seafood on the menu. It had been bought especially for the family. The following day, there was still no fish on the menu, but the host remembered me and said there might be some fresh clams for me in the kitchen. The (home made) spaghetti with clams was unforgettable. That, to me is service! The house wine was generous and very fairly priced, where wine in the more visible bars in town was expensive and the atmosphere less "authentically " Italian.

A quiet Sunday lunch in the Ristorante Monumentale on a hot July day. With a pleasant breeze wafting through, it was a very pleasant and picturesque spot just outside the walls of Ostia Antica. Quick service, modest priced menu, top quality fresh fish, a completely satisfying meal.
