Agriturismo Castagneti is a small holiday location nestled in the gentle middle of the Appenino Tosco-Emiliano, only 10 minutes drive from the Highway A1 and 40 minutes from Bologna and Florence. Our restaurant is the expression of the simple country life
Devo confermare la mia recensione di un anno fa... Sicuramente migliorato il servizio. Piatti molto buoni e ben fatti.

A real gourmand experience, with a twist :)This place is great, the food is exceptionally good, the atmosphere is great and the price is reasonable. The owner then is a great character, unstoppable, one of those figures that you can find only in Emilia. I was there with a group of friends (all girls!) and the owner clearly liked us, as he served us with extra home made salame, excellent wine and a selection of the liquors he made himself plus he entertained us with a visit to his cellars. We got home with even one of his bottles, that he gave us as souvenir! Never been in a restaurant where not only the food is so good, but the whole experience is so welcoming. The best restaurant in all the region, I reckon!

Weekend stay in Monzuno and this was a nice surprise. Its located in the 'Vault' and the look reminded me of a wedding type set up. We went at night so couldn't see the view but i bet its worth a lunch time visit.I had a vegetarian dish which i was not enamoured with (chickpea cutlet which lacked flavour) but some lovely veg. It was noticed immediately and without me having time to say that i did not enjoy the dish the waiter came back with a second dish to replace the first and a reduced price overall. The service was impeccable here i felt well looked after. My partner had a chicken dish which he enjoyed and we shared an alternative 'take' on an apple pie. We had 'Gavi' wine delicious and all at a reasonable price.

Welcome to Antica Fattoria le Piane; here you will feel like living the old times. This 200 years old building is an ancient farm we had the honor to restore and bring back to life. Our aim was to find the way to enhance the majesty of this house which ca

Have visited this lovely trattoria several times over the last few years and its quality is still very good. Arrived during tartufo season and the wonderful smell in the restaurant wets ones appetite for the wonderful food to follow. Restaurant was full, so book in advance - especially if you want Sunday lunch. Service was good.

Without a doubt the best food we had the entire two weeks in Italy. Allow me to set the stage for you. Our group of eight while on the way to Venice on a miserable raining cold day, had the luck to take the Rioveggio exit one hour outside of Bologna. We asked a local shopkeeper and he pointed us to the direction of this restaurant. Here we are, eight Americans walk in this establishment much to the surprise of the owner and other patrons. My guess is that there are not very used to tourists judging from the long and persistence stares. We started with an assortment of local cold cuts and cheeses along with some mozzarella and pancetta. Followed by 8 pasta dishes Tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, Garganelli with Salmon, Tortellini in a wonderful broth, Green Gnocchetti in a gorgonzola sauce, tagliatelle in meat sauce. Could not tell you which was better as there were all outstanding, yes I tasted them all. However, by far the star of the show was Tortellacci stuffed with pear and cheese, I think I died and went to heaven. The best part was the price, all of the above plus two liter of a very nice house wine and water for 115 euros. Yes, that is not a typo 115 euros. Someway, somehow will have to return.

Small and cozy restaurant in the wood house of the agriturismo with outdoor terrace. Emilan and Tuscan cousine, with wild boar, venison, porcini mushrooms, truffles fresh from our forests.
Local food, prepared beautifully and tastes amazing.Relaxed setting, homemade fresh warm bread was a bonus. Local wine is great, try the red sparkling for something a little different. The truffles are fresh and left unflavoured, so taste amazing. The peppermint and ginger liquor is a must!

For a change we didn't take the autostrada from Florence to Bologna but opted for a quieter scenic drive through the mountains East of the A1 - if you aren't in a rush it is highly recommended. We had found this place on TripAdvisor and headed for lunch. We arrived a little late and most of the many local clientele were already leaving. No matter and the friendly and welcoming husband and wife team were soon offering us a selection of delicious pasta dishes followed by a choice of 3 simple second and contorni. Including wine, mineral water and coffees it came a bargain â¬13 each all in.By the way use the map/directions on their website as the flag is in the wrong place on here - it is just North of Monzuno. Afterwards we drove up to Bologna alongside the Savena river - very attractive and with various swimming / picnic spots.

Our Inn, called 'A casa dalla Ross' is situated inside the Montesole's Park in Gardeletta (Marzabotto- Bologna). It is an old stone house completely restored. It is near the Setta river, that's why the river is the soul and leitmotif of the Inn. It is a q
Burrata was wonderful (we ordered second one instead of desert!!). Pasta was prepared well. Service was very personable and warm. We really liked the experience! We will be back!
Where to eat Italian food in Monzuno: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Rustic, Italian atmosphere. Excellent food inside a wooden restauraunt. There is a garden with swings and a aside for children. Panoramic views from outside of the mountains. The starter is an all you can eat buffet of various Italian cuisine; antipasti etc. For the main I had Pork shank which was truly delicious; similar to a tender lamb shank but larger. Others had a large tray of grilled meat to share with chips, comprising of veal, steak, ribs, sausage and bacon served with chips. All delicious. Coffee and pudding as well. High standard of service. Highly recommended.
