Reviews on Mediterranean food in Monterosso al Mare, Liguria, Italy. The last of the five villages along the Cinque Terre strip, Monterosso al Mare is the most visited, largely because it has the only sizable sand beach and the biggest hotels. Though it can get very crowded with tourists during the peak summer months, Monterosso is still delightful. The old town area, separated from the more modern resort area by the Aurora tower, is home to the ruins of a medieval castle and San Francesco church, which houses an important Van Dyck painting of the crucifixion.

Ristorante Via Venti is located on one of the most ancient alleyways in the town-characteristic to the historic center of Monterosso al mare. Here you can eat and relax, while enjoying ancient atmosphere of the village.
Food was delicious, no doubt. However a little bit of room for improvement. 1. The serving sizes couldâve been slightly bigger given the cost. Eg. The cheese plate was tiny for â¬16. 2. Service was a little slow. The owner/waiter seemed to be run off his feet. He couldâve used an assistant.

Tipico locale ligure a gestione familiare a trenta metri dal mare, esperienza decennale, piatti tipici della tradizione ligure cucinati con semplicita e passione!
My husband and I visited LâOsteria this week and were very impressed by the food! We shared a gorgeous pasta dish with clams and courgette. The best Iâve tasted anywhere. I had the baked sea bass with vegetables and potatoes - so fresh, absolutely superb! My husband had an excellent filet steak in pepper sauce - came with some rocket. He likes his steaks rare and this was cooked to perfection! We finished with homemade desserts of pana cotta and tiramisu, both which were very good. The bottle of local wine at 18 euros was very pleasant. Why not a 5? Well, the service was a little disjointed. We had to ask to see the dessert menu after waiting 20mins. We werenât offered coffee so gave up. Asked for the bill which didnât come so went to till and paid. They were very busy both inside and out so I sympathise with the staff. However, a bit of tightening up wouldnât come amiss.

Miky will be open on Tuesday April 25
We had read about Miky before we traveled to Monterosso al Mare in several different food books, etc. Our meals of monkfish with broccoli and scallops with mushrooms were very tasty. The beer and wine were refreshing on a very warm day, the waiter kindly brought ice for our water too.

They have improved again since last year and we really enjoyed every meal we had here. The pastas are all amazing, the fish dishes and seafood appies are outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable. Reservations recommended, especially if you want to sit outside, and you can make them online. The final shoutout is for the little bread pucks that are unique to here (havenât seen them elsewhere in the CT).

Booked solid on a busy, beautiful Saturday night, but the host and family member accommodated us with one of the best tables on the upstairs terrace. Our second time here over the years, and itâs only gotten better. I canât imagine a better restaurant in all of Liguria!

I just had the first of what will be a few stops here for a beach lunch, as every year we are here. They open promptly at 12 noon so I arrived a bit early and was first in what always ends up to be a long line. There are signs that explicitly state that the food is cooked to order and approximate timing of cooking. Therefore, anyone that comes on here to complain about efficiency or timing or the lineup really has only themselves to blame. Yes, the line moves slowly but the food is hot and perfect each time, rather than precooked and sitting under a heat lamp getting soggy. There is a McDonaldâs in La Spezia train station if that experience is preferred in Italy. The staff is friendly and the process can be observed and is very clean. Prices are fair and the entire experience is positive in every way. I remembered thinking, the very first time I was here, that the process could be made more efficient. However, that would inevitably sacrifice quality so I quickly recognized that they produce the best street food with what I now appreciate as a way of getting people to mentally slow down on vacation. The "Cones Of Goodness" (my name, not theirs) are the perfect Italian street food on the beach!

We arrived in Monterosso on Sunday - this place is closed on Sunday and Mondays so we came on Tuesday evening about 7:30pm. There was a table inside the small restaurant that we were able to nab. The food is home-made. We both had the lasagne and it was only â¬9. The food came quickly. No reservations, just go and hope you get a table. You wonât be disappointed!

La Taverna Friendly Restaurant, great service, friendly staff, high quality cuisine, where you can enjoy excellent fresh fish and seafood.
We tried this restaurant after a recommendation from our hotel. Based on other places we ate, this was just average. They appeared to be understaffed and there was only one waiter responsible for the entire inside portion. It took over 10 minutes to get someone to notice us and put in a drink order. Then at least another 5 to 10 minutes to get our drinks (just a draft beer and a spritz). We ordered 4 oysters which I donât recommend. They were very small and my husband and I both felt queasy later in the evening after eating. We both had the spaghetti with seafood in aluminum packet. It was ok but limited amounts of seafood compared to other places we ate. In summary, there are better places to eat in the area.

The location is central and by the harbour which is nice. The food is okay, but you are paying more for the location than for its quality. Bathroom could have been nicer.
