Reviews on Mediterranean food in Little Neck, New York, United States. Little Neck is an upper middle class neighborhood of Queens, New York City, bordered on the north by Little Neck Bay and on the east by Great Neck in Nassau County. Due to this proximity to Nassau, Little Neck remains one of the most suburban-looking areas in New York City. The southern border is the Grand Central Parkway, and to the west is Douglaston. The Little Neck station is the easternmost New York City station on the busy Port Washington Branch of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), and thus Little Neck is home to the busiest of approximately a dozen remaining railway grade crossings in New York City. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 11.

This is a Kosher restaurant that is very small and set back a little so you have to look carefully to find it on the main street. Our very sweet and attentive waitress Cindy answered all our questions about the menu patiently. I selected the salmon salad which came with a broiled piece of salmon over a large green salad. My friends enjoyed their paninis.

I’m just returning from lunch. I had grilled octopus, grilled calamari, and the seafood pasta along with fresh bread drizzled in olive oil. If you like those things...you’ll not find it better anywhere in the WORLD !!My landlubber friend ordered grill chicken. It wasn’t very good and we told the staff. They took it off the check. Class act and appreciated!!

A group of 7 had dinner in their outside terrace on a Tuesday evening and were very satisfied with our dinners. The terrace is very large and airy, not claustrophobic as some outdoor dining areas are. We started our meal with Zucchini chips, fried calamari and a salad along with a lovely bottle of Rose. Dinners were salmon, sea bass, steak and seafood over linguine. The appetizers and dinners were all very good to excellent. We finished off our meals with Ekma(greek dessert of whipped creme and crushed walnuts and honey), creme brulee and brownie sundae, all very good. There is valet parking at the side of the restaurant which is a plus. A nice place conveniently located off the Clearview Expressway on Northern Blvd., a bit pricey but perfect for a special occassion.

The food was average, however the service was less than acceptable. The owner came out afterwards to apologize, yet it was too late. The app took forever to come out and the meal arrived with white rice! They served hummus as a complementary app to apologize for the app we were waiting for.

A friend and I had brunch at this wonderful restaurant today. We absolutely loved it! The staff was friendly and remarkably happy to serve. We had the Rothchilds Breakfast. Omelet with choice of filling.Served with Israeli chopped salad, green herb tahini, Kalamata olive dip, feta cheese, pesto dip, and sun dried tomatoes. I don't generally eat bread, however, the bread was unavoidable. I loved it! Served with dipping olive oil and balsamic. Our server - Gal was beautiful and so sweet. Thank you Gal! To sum it up, if you want a wonderful brunch with a wonderful staff...this is the place to visit. I cant wait to return for breakfast, brunch or dinner. Keep up the good work!!!

We came for a family celebration. This is certainly our favorite Greek restaurant and possibly our favorite family restaurant. We have been coming here since Farias opened. Our little kids love the octopus grilled. We enjoyed for appetizer A delicious summer salad with water billing. We also had fried calamari, so I cannot do,. For entrées several of us had swordfish steak, lamb chops, branzino, and stuff flounder. Everything was fabulous. The house was great as was the Greek beer and a delicious coffee frappe. We were very fortunate to see Maria, the owner and famous chef from the TV show “Chopped”. She received a big award the same day for being an outstanding immigrant business woman in Queens County. Maria is just great. This is a lovely family-owned restaurant with fabulous food. We recommend reservations.

Crabtrees Restaurant

Mediterranean/Continental/Restaurant

Reviewed By LITTLESTAR1941

This visit to Crabtrees was our first since it opened. Mediterranean/American style is not my first choice for eating out. But to make the wife happy and our friend happy since it was her birthday and our 50th anniversary. The service is excellent with water being repeatedly refilled and the crumbs removed very quickly. The 1st thing that annoyed me was this pesky fly throughout the whole time we were at the table. No one is going take swats during a meal so I have no solution. The front door is constantly being opened. My 2nd problem (and I know it is my fault), was the vegetables. Each dish comes with mashed potato and a mix of vegetables like yellow and green zucchini, stringbeans, and pieces of broccoli(ugh) and some slices of beets (ugh 2).For starters our friend had the buratta salad and i shared the escargot with wifey. That came in the full shell on a plate of garlic sauce which is what makes this dish so good. For main course our friend had the darla's chicken, wife had the salmon and I had the porterhouse style 16 ounce pork chop. The chop was huge and covered with sauteed peppers and onions. The chop was very good but I probably would have been happier had I stuck with my first thought of getting 2 appetizers and a salad. I studied the menu and really wanted the calamari plate and the escargot with a salad.Appetizers and salads run from $11-15 while most main dishes run in the teens to 30+.When we arrived the place was not too filled but when we left on a Sunday nite , it was packed. If you are still hungry for dessert, get the gelato.

Lola

Reviewed By dylanboyd2007

Last Monday night it was time for us to go back to Lola for our regular wine dinner. One of the guys in the group spke with chew owner Michael Ginor in advance asking him if he would be willing to cook a special meal for us featuring Foie Gras and all of the other luxurious dishes that one can only dream about. The answer was a resounding yes! Chef used to feature many of the dishes we ate last week on his menu but the theme of the restaurant has changed over time, but let me tell you his skills have only improved and the meal he created for us will only push us back to the restaurant sooner. The first creation was Osetra Caviar on top of a Cauliflower Panna Cotta with a "dreamlike" Scallop Tartar, the presentation which you will see, was amazing. As great as the presentation the dish was simply exquisite. We were all raving about it what seemed like forever. Forever came to an abrupt end when we were presented with the Totchon of Hudson Valley Foie Gras along with pistachio, rhubarb and duck prosciutto. When I tell you that this might have ever been the best presentation and tasting foie I've ever eaten, I kid you not. It's a favorite of the 10 of us who were eating it and a staple at all of our wine dinners. Truth be told in all my years of indulging in dishes like this it has to be among the 10 best ever and that really is saying a lot. With it we had 2 different Tokaji Aszueszencia's one a 1999 and the other a 2003. Both were excellent. With the initial offering we had 2 wonderful champagnes one being an Andre Clouet and a 2008 Grand Dame. In addition to 2 outstanding white wines as well.Dish number 3 was a beautifully prepared Artic Char with spring pea, preserved lemon and marinated ikura. The fish was cooked to perfection, rare, moist and expertly seasoned. Each mouthful was an explosion of wonderful flavors. We were getting a bit creative with the wine pairings now, we opened a 1996 Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondina and a 2007 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru.Our next dish was a White Birch Grilled Wagyu with Truffle Pommes Puree and charred scallion Chimichurri. Words alone can't describe the taste of this offering, the attached pictures might help. As I'm trying to remember the wines I realize that my notes were getting a bit messy but I do remember we opened in no particular order now a 1999 Hospices de Beaune Grand Cru, 2004 Domaine Dujac, 2004 Camille Girard Beaune, 1992 Chateau Leoville St. Julien, 2000 Domaine De Chevaile Grand Cru Classe de Graves and a couple of others I forgot. Our next dish was extremely traditional when it comes to Foie Gras, it's classic French and it's never served like this here. it was the Whole Roast of Foie Gras with Okinawa Purple potato and braised red cabbage. I've never before had the foie presented to me in this fashion, it's so far removed from the perception of Foie Gras is on a menu that you wouldn't believe it one word will describe this offering WONDERFUL!This was then followed by a 28 day dry aged Rohan Duck with rutabaga, Medjool date and a Star Anise BBQ Sauce. This was the 6th savory course that we were served and this alone could have been the star of the night on its on. It was beautiful, truly fit for a king. For desert, (not that we needed any, but we had a 1976 Rheingau in the wings,) we were served a Halva Parfait composed of Silan, Semisweet chocolate and torched meringue. I know it was delicious but forgive me by now my ability to do justice to the meal was a real stretch.Michael you and you staff out did yourselves. Many of us here for this dinner had been customers on a regular basis before the menu change. After the meal you gave us I'm sure we'll be back for some of our wine dinners and at other times as well. Thanks again for a wonderful night!PS - I didn't forget about your offer on getting the foie thru you

This restaurant was recommended by friends for a family dinner with the accent on Greek cuisine of course.. We mostly ordered lamb kebabs but found these remarkably tough and without flavour. We were very surprised by the charges for wine when finally receiving the bill - frankly outrageous. In addition as a party of eight we were placed in what one might describe as a corridor. Cross this one off your list !
