Nice Provencal restaurant (bistrot) on the main square of the village. Internal eating room (no airco), tables outside looking at the main square and in the backyard garden (best choice when it is hot weather).Typical dishes, good selection of beers and wines. They don't have menus, the waiter comes with a blackboard (100 x 150 cm) and show you the choices of the day.Available meat and fish. Quick service.

This was such a perfect find. On a terrace surrounded by olive trees, overlooking a valley. Good food, charmingly served, and for the region affordably priced. All this made for a stress free evening of joy which I can only recommend to all. It was perfect for families and also for couples. It will remind you of how good life can be. And not for the rich, just for you.

In the heart of Provence, in Valensole, the restaurant of Le Jardin de Celina offers you, all the year, a cuisine with the accents of the south, imagined by our chef and mainly prepared with fresh products from the rich terroir of Haute-Provence.
French friends told us about this newly opened restaurant (with rooms), when we were staying in Valensole so we booked at once. A newly refurbished hillside property - tastefully executed with attractive dining terrace and comfortable furniture. Service on arrival- and throughout -was efficient and friendly but the food just did not match the 4 star level and was very average despite indications that the chef was trying hard to create gastronomic dining. When I saw one poor review on Trip Advisor, I dismissed it as untypical but later I suspected that the good reviews may have been left by family and friends of this newly opened restaurant, who were clearly dining there on the night that we visited.I am saddened to write this review but, for example, my gambas a la plancha was 3 over-grilled king prawns with a small amount of a tomato based sauce and a small pile of dry ribbon pasta (full stop). Price 23 euros.I am sure that the current team are well motivated but I am not convinced that they have the expertise to deliver at the intended level. I hope that I am wrong and will see a paradigm shift when we are in Valensole next.

The outside seating is trendy, the menu looked great but....the waiter (owner?) was very unpleasant thoughout our meal. The food was nothing special and I strongly suspect some of our dishes were not cooked in the restaurant... Also there was a small painting exhibition and we asked some questions about the artwork we got a very rude answer by the same waiter.

Very disappointed with this restaurant. Although the garden was lovely, the service was very poor - only one person waiting on and quite a lot of diners. They didn't even bring the drinks and a snack to keep us going. I have a salt intolerance and the owner of our B and B phoned up in advance and was assured they could do salt free for me. In effect, all I could have was a piece of meat ( I had some very fatty lamb chops) and as the only accompaniment was chips or ratatouille, I had a dish of chips slapped in front of me and was told summarily that the ratatouille had salt in it. So not impressed.

Six of us wanted a delicious lunch in the heart of France, and at Le Patio that exactly is what we found. The setting is basic but charming, the staff friendly and professional, and the food a delight. Everything was presented beautifully without being fussy; there was a wide selection of dishes on the menu; the food and flavours reflected the region perfectly. Nice selection of wines at reasonable prices, though the house wines served in pitchers were a little disappointing. Stick to bottles with labels. We were the only foreign tourists there; most of the patrons were French, which is a good indicator of the quality of the food. The price was very reasonable. Open for lunch and dinner. Reserve the day or morning ahead or you won't get a table and you'll be turned away disappointed. Santé.

The restaurant at Villa Borghese is 'La Table de Pauline' and is listed in the 'Eyewitness' under 'Places to eat' in Provence. We were staying at the hotel so had dinner there on each of our three nights. The ambience is average, but the food is excellent but not inexpensive- but good food seldom is. Breakfasts, however, were very average with not a great choice. If in Provence I would recommend staying at Villa Borghese which is in Greoux-les-Bains and away from the madding crowds near the gorge du Verdon. Well worth a visitTONYC
