Top 10 Mediterranean food in Catania, Province of Catania, Italy

Best Mediterranean restaurants nearby. Discover the best Mediterranean food in Catania. View Menus, Photos and Reviews for Mediterranean restaurants near you.. Catania has been a prize of many empires over the centuries, from Greeks to Romans to Arabs to Normans to Spaniards (to name a few). But its citizens have a more dangerous enemy right in their backyard—Mount Etna, Europe's largest and most active volcano, which destroyed the city with earthquakes and lava flows in 1693. Look closely at the baroque buildings dating from after the eruption—you'll notice a creative use of lava.

What a delightful surprise! Small, yet busy restaurant. Great local high quality food very reasonably priced. The owner was very welcoming and hospitable. The desserts were yummy! No fuss, great food...delightful staff. As we say in Australia “do yourself a favour and eat here...”

If you’re wondering how this seemingly modest restaurant got up to the heights of TripAdvisor ratings, here’s the answer: this warm family place has the soul probably bigger than you’ve ever seen in your life. It was my first time in Sicily, and nearly all the restaurants were very good but this one is really exceptional - so much that I’ve finally decided to write my first review here. Fantastic service, great home made food and wine, walls breathing with coziness and history and low prices make literally crowds of people patiently wait outside to have a chance to get seated. If you have to choose only one place to have lunch in the whole city - go there and you won’t be disappointed!

My husband and I visited Le Quinte after reading great reviews on this site. We were not disappointed! I’m a native New Yorker and I’ll admit I’m a pizza snob, so my standards or very high. The staff at Le Quinte were welcoming and took time to explain the menu when we had questions (their English is quite good). We started with the cutting board, a great selection of meats and cheeses with freshly baked focaccia. Then we each ordered a pizza since we couldn’t agree on one, and there’s such a variety on the menu. We could not finish even half but we were glad to have leftovers for the next day. I think it’s safe to say that any pizza on the menu would be excellent. I highly recommend Le Quinte!Dear 555lesleyg,thank you for your review. We would like to thank you for your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you provided to make improvements to ensure we offer an exceptional experience for our guest in the future.

Amazingly, but the waiter hugs and kisses with every second guest, so we could see that the place is really loved by locals. Surprisingly enough that the restaurant was half empty on Friday night because we liked everything from start to finish: prompt and friendly service, vast choice of Sicilian specialities, especially seafood and freshly caught fish. Do not miss this place when visiting Catania.

We just discovered this cozy restaurant by walking through the Market in Piazza Carlo Alberto. We liked the outdoor, the dishes written on a black board and we decided to come for dinner. The atmosphere is authentic and the design very well finished. The owner welcomed us warmly and gave us the best table next to the window. Thanks to his genuine advice, we had a big tasting plate of typical fish appetizers, a beautiful tuna with Tropea candied onions, Swordfish involtini and a succulent Tortino with warm heart of pistachio cream! Delicious! The choice of the wine as well was perfect thanks to Antonio’s advice. We talked with him about our trip in Sicily and he gave us nice suggestions! We really had great time and great food! Highly recommended both for lunch and dinner! Good Morning! All our Staff is really proud for reading this review because it is genuine! We all are really happy you are enjoing your trip in Sicily and we think that a trip is fantastic if local food is amazing! We try to do this for you every day and we really hope to see you again and soon!Antonio.
