Visited today after reviews on here. So pleased we did. The chap was incredibly helpful, using Google translate on his PC for the parts of the menu del dia we didn't understand. For 12 euros we had a seafood pasta and baked cheesy courgettes to start, followed by a mixed grill / chips and veal / mushrooms. Then a biscuit icecream dessert and melon. Accompanied by half litre white wine and sparkling water. All was well presented and really tasty. If we return to Besalu I'd eat here forsure. The chap/owner also then helped us plan our walk around besalu, and gave us a map.We nearly didn't go in, as it looks a bit of a sports bar, but inside is a very tidy, modern, clean restaurant.Highly recommended.

Our restaurant is open to our guests as well as visitors that are looking to enjoy a good meal in a warm and charming setting. It is open on weekends-from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon-, holidays, and long weekends. We offer a la carte menu, as well
You will only find this restaurant by recommendation. It is about a kilometre up a track off the Figueres to Besalu road, near to Besalu. It is family run and family friendly. Beautiful Catalan Sunday lunch, well served and reasonably priced. It is far removed from the Costa Brava most tourists experience and better for that. Clean stone walled dinning room and a good choice of food.

Besalú is a medieval village, famous for the micvé and the Jewish bath which was discovered in 1964. It is the first building of its kind found in Spain and third in Europe. It is an underground room and a pool that is filled naturally with water from a d
Varied, flexible menu - AND available from 7:30 night we went. Cheap and cheerful with good house wine for â¬5:00. Excellent service. Sit on far side of terrace for best view in Besalú.Thanks!!!

We ate here twice and really enjoyed our meals. The setting is stunning and gothic-style high in the mountains with beautiful landscape views, while the food was very tasty and adventurous. It's family run making for a cosy, friendly feel. Would highly recommend! Also does the best calamari I've ever tasted and delicious house wine. At 15-18 Euros for a full meal including wine and water, this is brilliant value.

This is a really nice, small Tapas Bar which opens only in the evening - it has got a small menu and we liked it a lot.In addition, the charme of the street we were sitting in is remarkable (but Besalu IS very nice, especially in the evening)The salad with goats cheese and honey(?) was wonderful, the croquettes just fine and the pa amb tomaquet (bread with tomato, typical catalonian) and cheese platter were great too. We choose it for two people and nearly could not manage all of it.Drinks were included, thus (with 11 EUR per person) quite fair

We found this place, some way outside the old part of Besalu, after looking at the various touristy restaurants in town. For 10 Euros (weekday lunchtime) you get a range of freshly made salads for starter and a choice of 5 or so hot main dishes (Fish, rabbit, pork etc the day we were there) plus desserts and drinks (water and draft wine) included. Good fresh simple food in a lively and pleasant dining space. Friendly, helpful and efficient service. All in all a good experience. Worth finding up behind the municipal swimming pool.

I take a typical spanish dish, "calamarcets amb verdures", squid with vegetables. The quality of ingredients are the reason for the level of this typical Catalan restaurant. And the service are very good, all the time take care of us.

Enjoyed a lovely meal here in early autumn so Besalu was quiet but very nice. We sat on the terrace out the back overlooking the river and old bridge. Great service, food and wine, this restaurant is kinda of tucked away and doesn't look much from the outside but we were glad we found it.

It ranks high on TA reviews and no wonder!! The warm welcome from the chatty gent and friendly service staff was a harbinger of good things to come. There are set meal options, complete with wine, all for a sensible price. Our starters: meat stew; seafood pasty with a large prawn; mains: pork loin; grilled cuttlefish/scallop; desserts: recuit (Catalan Mel y mato); créeme brûlée. Each dish was well presented and delicious. Portions were huge! What a gem of a restaurant! I truly enjoyed our meal at Cal Tronc and would return in a flash!!!

Excellent menu offering both traditional and modern takes on catalan specialties. Not an overwhelming choice but enough to make it very difficult to prioritise.Setting of the restaurant is at the foot of the medieval bridge over the El Fluvia river with a beautifully decorated terrace.Strongly recommend for a gastronomic experience and/or special evening out.
