New restaurant by the sea
This was one of the most pleasant surprises of my week-long trip to Italy and the best and freshest seafood I have ever tasted. We stopped into Brucoli for a drink and were so captivated by the seaside town that we decided to stay for dinner. Stravento was recommended by our barman and we tried to book a last-minute table for 6.00. At first, the restaurant wasnât sure they could accommodate our group of five, but, through some magic, we ended up at the best table in the house, right on the veranda, overlooking the sea. While deciding what to order, the chef scampered down to the waterâs edge, having received a phone call from a fisherman to say that he had a big catch to deliver. Minutes later, the chef was carrying a huge fish, still thrashing, past our table and into the kitchen. Thatâs how fresh and authentic this place is. I grew up in a landlocked area and never really acquired the taste for fish, but my meal here was extraordinary. I enjoyed octopus, fried calamari, raw tuna carpaccio marinated in olive oil and mint, and grilled tuna. Every mouthful was delicious and the freshness made all the difference. The final grilled tuna dish was too large for me to finish, and quite a thick, very rare piece of fish. I would recommend sharing a dish this size. We had a vegetarian in our group and the restaurant did their best to accommodate, making her a pasta dish with fresh tomato salsa, which she rated as âpretty average, but the view and experience are amazingâ. We ended the evening with selfies with the jovial chef. A wonderful, unforgettable evening.

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Really was a great experience for myMaltese girlfriend who had never had a proper Sicilian dinner before. We had a dinner with my family and our two year old. The dinner was. 3 mussle soups, 1 octopus salad, curry risotto , 2 fresh pasta dishes, 2 plates of antipasta. 2 bottles of local wine, a personal cheese pizza for a small child, bottle of still water and a bottle of sparkling water and 2 side salads = 125 euro. Thurday nights they have Mexican food but I understand it is not very good. Come here any other night for Pizza or traditional Sicilian cuisine.

This place serves you very fresh fish and exquisite primiâs and secundoâs, while enjoying a beautiful view on Mount Etna and the bay and enjoying the lovely sounds of waves at your feet. Service and staff are excellent as is the wine-list. Youâll love it here and will remember it as âWhat a wonderful night!â

After a shaky start where nobody seemed to speak English and we were given the impression that they really didn't care too much anyway, things just got better and better (probably in no small part to the very good waiter who eventually served our table). Food portions were, shall we say, generous in the extreme and very well cooked and presented. Good selection of wines though they did run out of one we were drinking. Just outside of the main town but well worth finding.

I don't normally give out 5's on a review, but this place was stellar. We have been in Sardinia and Sicily for nearly two weeks and this was our best meal yet! The 400+ year old building is lovely, situated on two levels plus an outside courtyard. Service was great but the food....oh my!We started with oysters from Norway, and a snapper carpaccio. Both were outstanding. I have been eating carpaccio and tartare for the last ten days and this hit it out of the park! The oysters were briny and fresh. Then on to a rare as requested grilled steak with mashed potatoes and a herbaceous grilled snapper with mashed potatoes and salad. The fish was grilled perfectly and the herbs conveyed an outstanding flavor to the dish. The dessert of fresh mango and pistachio crema was delightful, and had so much flavor and texture. This is not your typical Sicilian restaurant....it is so different. The flavors are from around the world ( Thai soup, Peruvian fish, tropical mango, lime on the civiche). If we were staying longer in this little town we would go back. But We believe it is worth a diversion to try a dinner here! Nice job!!!

We were staying in Brucoli and looking for a place to eat that didn't just do pizzas. We were directed to this place by a local Sicilain and when we turned up we didn't know what to expect. The female owner spoke excellent English and helped us with the menu, recommending the signature dish of local seasonal fish (it changes with the seasons), and other things too. When the food arrived, my son said his pizza was exellent, my daughter said her pasta was the best ever and my signature fish dish (a plate with about 7 different pieces of fish to try) was one of the best I've EVER had. It was very resonably priced. At the end the owner offered us a complimentary liquer and sorbet for the children, a lovely touch and we left a big tip. I only wish this restaurant was local and we hadn't discovered it on our last night in Sicily otherwise we would definitely go again!

we booked a table for 8 people.. totally unprofessional, half of the menu was not available, octopus salad starter was terrible and had the consistency of plastic, the linguine alle vongole were extremely salty and basically it was impossible to eat them... worst dinner in Sicily
