We found the restaurant off the beaten track when looking for a light lunch. We donât speak fluent Italian but managed to decipher what was on the menu and the prices listed appeared reasonable. We ordered, eventually, after a long wait, a tiny portion of local cheese, ham and bread was brought, much less and of a poorer in quality than we had for our 5 Euro hotel breakfast. We ate the very meagre offerings then asked for the bill but instead more small plates arrived, these being even less appetising than the previous. After asking for the bill once more we were told to wait whilst the owner decided how much to charge. We were then charged an unbelievable 80 euros for a tiny amount of poorly presented and prepared food. Until we read the other reviews of the place we assumed that we had been âtaken for a rideâ by the owner and made a fool of just because we are English and donât speak Italian; in fact, this treatment at Due Nani seems to be quite common amongst all visitors, even fellow Italians In the UK it would be out of business very quickly. The âcowboysâ who run it do Italy and their fellow countrymen a disservice by giving visitors such a bad experience. By a very large margin this was the worst restaurant we a visited in Italy over seven days; Shame on you Due Nani

Simply, a great meal!! I was brought here by a friend, and it lived up to all the hype. We had a meal centered around seafood. From the antipasto, three pasta dishes, grilled and fried seafood entries and dessert, everything was outstanding! The antipasto consisted of variety raw and cooked seafood. The pasta dishes were seafood risotto, cavatelli like pasta in seafood based sauce and calamari shaped pasta. One better than the rest. The main entrees were a mixture of grilled seafood. All cooked right in front of us. The service was outstanding! Also, Pino, one of the owners, frequently stopped by to provide suggestions and confirm if we enjoyed each entrée. The meal is not inexpensive, but well worth it, especially if you are going to celebrate a special occasion. I canât wait to go back!!!!! Pino alla prossima! Grazie per una grande serata.

The 'Agriturismo Tre Colli is located in the town of Ariano Irpino. Opened October 19, 2002, is the flagship the company. Stylish, refined, and especially away from the bustle of the towns, is a pearl in the center of the hills of 'irpinia.'S possible to
What immediately strikes you about Tre Colli is its magnificent view of the valley below Ariano Irpino. It is really stunning, adorned with the innumerable fruit trees (plum, pear, even quince...).Then you get inside and you are favorably impressed by the unpretentiousness of it. It really looks like you are entering your own home to have your meal. But be reassured, this is not a home meal, the courses are all genuinely tailored to offer traditional Pugliese specialties! All of this in a saner price. Definitely worth it (my family have chosen them twice in a row for a wedding and a Christening).

Definitely a must go for Osteria Varanalle. Amazing view from the terrace over the valley and cozy, elegant interior and at same time rustic. I suggest this place for any foreigner traveller or tourist, even if just passing by.You will get a special atmosphere, good local typical and national cuisine and good selection of wines.Guests will be pleased also by the excellent service of the staff that will not miss to spoil you with after dinner drinks, liqueurs and an amazing selection of cigars. If you want try the local gourmets served like in a five star restaurant but with good balance quality/budget, you have to visit Osteria Varanalle. You will thank me later.

The restaurant is a work of devotion to style and detail. The location overlooks the valley with a direct view to the setting sun.The menu is perfect and presented beautifully. The service is impeccable. The owner will show you around the cellars and caves where in earlier times olives were stored ready for pressing.

Our dinner at La Pignata was very memorable. We arrived early and in the course of speaking with the owner's son, Ezio, learned he spent time in Belleville, N.J. where I once lived. After seating us and discussing many tempting items on the menu, Ezio suggested the tasting menu, as with smaller portions we'd be able to sample more dishes. Each of the items seemed to have its roots in the 'poverty' style once driven by economic conditions so many years ago, but updated with contemporary techniques and presentation. First: Bruschetta with green vinegar peppers. Second: pancotto all'arianese: a beautiful, moist mound of bitter greens and stale bread, topped with a criss-cross of paper-thin lard to impart flavor, and red pepper threads. Third: sformatino di baccala: creamy baccala on a bed of broccoli puree topped with steamed broccoli and 'crunchy' peppers. Fourth: house made cicatelli pasta with sauce. Fifth: caramele di fave:pasta shapes stuffed with fave, cheese, potato. Sixth:Salsice/Sausage with potatoes and red peppers. Each of these dishes was beautifully presented, hot, and absolutely delicious. The chef really understood how to coax flavors out of these ingredients. Of course, we had no room for dessert! Many diners ate pizza, for which this restaurant is also famous. A delicious and less pricey option. We had a wonderful evening, would not hesitate to recommend it and would love to return. There were many more locals than travelers the night we dined there; always a good sign. Two six-course dinners were 58 euro, our wine a DOCG was 31 euro. A truly memorable meal, well worth the price.
