We came across this place as we explored the town and are so glad we did. It was a fantastic experience! It is absolutely huge and was very busy but the manager said he would look after us. Sure enough, in amongst the organised chaos, he kept an eye on us and we had a fantastic time. The barbecued lamb is the thing to go for. I have never seen anything like the charcoal pit it is cooked in and it was absolutely delicious. Crisp in places, tender and very tasty indeed. The house wine was great, The salad fresh and crispy and the atmosphere amazing. We would go back there as soon as possible.

After having some not so nice experience in Heraklion we tried Maxim, based on the reviews here. We were not disappointed. As appetizer we had mussels saganaki, a huge plate with mussels and vegetables covered with melted cheese. Main course was a traditional dish made of lamb, delicious as well. 2 persons shared 1 portion of each since we wanted to try more than one plate, and it was actually too much! Portions are big. Even if we were full, the server brought us fruits and raki on the house, very good option for desert.

Traditional restaurant with excellent homemade Greek food near to the sea.
Truely wonderful restaurant. Beautiful views of the ocean on an evening. Wonderful food, that we didn't want to end. (Using secretive recipes.) Very reasonable price. Excellent value for money. With raki and water melon to end with. Enjoy! The waiters are kind and helpful and are patient when getting you order. Also love interacting a with people. Great service timings and present the food very nicely.

We are a family-run taverna where homemade Cretan dishes are made with fresh, naturally-grown produce. We are happy to be able to share with you what we love, Cretan Cuisine, which is famous for being among the healthiest around the world as well as the o
Good food, good price, good service. All fine. If you smoke. We were there with children, and especially sat inside, because we don't smoke. But all smoke comes into the restaurant from outside. Ugly and annoying, we ran out quickly and got great coffee nearly in the cafe on the beach...

So glad we ate here on our recent trip to Crete. Staff greeted us with a warm welcome, and presented us with an assortment of delicious bread and humous while we perused the menu. We chose swordfish souvlaki, served with an assortment of grilled vegetables, and it was delicious, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Complimentary fresh fruit and raki to finish...and a wee keek around the quirky room full of antique curios that surrounds you enroute to the ladies room, rounded off a lovely evening. Top marks...great food, friendly smiling staff.

We are located in Ammoudara, Heraklion, Crete. In our restaurant you can enjoy the traditional cretan cuisine ...!! Our restaurant is opening from the 1st of April. Looking forward to welcome you!!
After reading reviews on here, we decided to give this restaurant a go and was not disappointed. The starters were delicious and beautifully presented, as was the fillet steak main in a spicy wine sauce. Not being keen on mashed potato, I also asked for chips instead, but the waiter insisted on bringing them separately. I am so glad he did, as it was the most amazing mashed potato I had ever tasted and ended up leaving the chips. The cheesecake dessert was plentiful and tasted so good. For a meal like this youâd expect to pay a fortune, but the total bill for a three course meal for two, pre-meal alcoholic drinks and bottle of red wine came to â¬90, which was exceptional value. The complimentary miniature bottle of raki (not for the faint hearted) presented before we left was a really nice touch and rounded off a perfect evening in a perfect setting. A must go if youâre holidaying in the area.

An atmospheric, cozy place and of the most popular gourmet hangouts of Heraklion, since 2000. All these years 'Parasies' -as was the original name of the restaurant- has been opening its doors to foodies in a smaller, intimate and beloved place. Our desir
Stopped in for lunch on our first day in Crete, and found ourselves in a lovely place with some of the best food we've eaten on this three week trip.Traditional dishes are brought into the modern world and everything is prepared beautifully. This is a very special place that will not disappoint.
