I operate a traditional Bedouin style camp in the desert of Wadi Rum. It has a main tent for socialising and eating as well as a small cave with fire which serves the same purpose. There is space to sleep outside under the star filled sky or smaller tents for sleeping if you prefer as well as a shared bathroom for your convenience. The camp is nestled in a small cave situated in the beautiful desert landscape and is the perfect place to relax and share in the Bedouin lifestyle after a day spent exploring the incredible sights of Wadi Rum.
For those seeking adventure in the desert around Wadi Rum, Atayek and family provide a comprehensive package that ticks all the boxes for those seeking a wild experience. Atayek is a very generous host who is 100% committed to making sure you can focus on your holiday adventures covering everything from accommodation, food, transport, other trips (e.g. Petra, the beach etc), advice and even specialist climbing equipment. Recommended.

Salman Zwaidh Camp is an authentic Bedouin camp located inside the Protected Area of Wadi Rum Desert. This is a small and familiar camp that offers you a diverse experience of the Bedouin lifestyle. During your stay you will have the opportunity to meet local people, listen to their stories and share good conversations. We also welcome you to our camp kitchen if you wish so! We can prepare a meal together, as one big family, like in our everyday-life and tradition. All our meals are made according to our local cultural habits. If you are a vegan, vegetarian, or have any other special diet/food restrictions, we will have an adapted meal for you. After a good tasting of local gastronomy, you will find a special open resting tent outside, where you can relax and have a cup of tea. Arranged with mattresses and carpets, it is a good place to read a book, chill out, or have good talks enjoying the shade and the good Wadi Rum particular cool desert breeze.Other optional activities can be included in your stay as well, such as Jeep tours, desert trekking, camel rides and mountain climbing. We would be glad to help you arrange any other activities that we may not offer.Accomodation:Our traditional tents are comfortably adapted for the perfect combination of the simple Bedouin style and your pleasant stay. We have different tent types available: 1 double bed, 2 single beds, 3 single beds, and 6 single beds, and can sleep a total of 17 people. The camp also provides the possibility for renting tent pitches around our site, in case you are coming with your camping tent. Groups and families booking in the same tent is possible, just ask us. We can also re-arrange our tents according to your preferences (e.g. our 6-bed tent can have up to 8 beds, or we can add triple tents), and we have place for pitching your tent around our camp. All tents are equipped with beds and carpets on the floor. Bed sheets and linen for winter and summertime are provided. Private toilets and shower are located outside of the tents.Cleanliness and good care are always two important elements in the management of our camp facilities.Location:Salman Zwaidh Camp is located inside the Protected Area of Wadi Rum, just a 15min Jeep ride from the Visitor Centre. In one side, the camp is surrounded by beautiful orange-colored rock mountains. The big wall formed provides shelter to some species of little birds, that will come around to sing to you from time to time. The most adventurous consider it a good scrambling area to go appreciate the panorama view from the natural cave up there. An alternative walk from behind the mountain is accessible if you want to join them.A few steps away, on the other side of the camp, the scene opens over a wide desert corridor, where the eyes can reach the mountains on the horizon further ahead. There, you will be privileged by being right at one of the best local famous sunset and sunrise spots, an experience that will assure you feel the essence of the desert, combining beauty and tranquility into a show of lights that will connect you directly to the nature. At night, you will be amazed by the appreciation of the silence under the stars or walks guided by a full-moon sky. A two-minute walk will take you to smooth sand dunes, allowing fun day slides or calm night talks.
I spent one night in the camp and the accommodation is more than good, the staff is very approachable, unobtrusive and modest. We had a nice trip in the desert where we took some nice photos. The evening and breakfast were neat. In any case, you get a lot for a pretty low price.

The camp is situated on a great location, with view at the sunset. Nice place a little up the mountain where you can lounge with a cup of tea. Great Zarb dinner, very tasty, and made in the underground oven by the great cook, and very good breakfast! We were very happy with guide Rachid! Knows a lot about the desert. And life there. We were also happy with the clear prices provided by Suleiman. We have read a lot about hidden costs in Wadi Rum, but Suleiman was very clear, so no problems with that. Last thing: Tents are clean, ans although sanitary is very basic ( which is to be expected in a desert camp) it is also clean and sufficient. We had a great time!

Located in the heart of Wadi Rum Protected Area, the ecolodge Milky Way provides comfort and a magnificent view over the desert. Our accommodation consists in private Bedouin tents that can accommodate one to six people. Each tent is equipped with beds, mattresses, pillows, bed linen and comfortable duvets.
We had a really great day out (well, half a day, but it took longer) in Wadi Rum. Not taking the camels we did miss a bit of the Lawrence of Arabia feeling but the landscape is amazing. We arrived in Wadi Rum village the evening before and were directed to the parking place where our guide met us. From there we were taken to the camp and shown the facilities. It was January and there was only one couple in addition to us. Dinner was traditional arabic sitting around an open fire. We had extra blankets but the 'room' was very comfortable anyway and so slept well. The facilities were well maintained and clean. We were lucky that the owner was our guide and we had a really informative trip to most of the best places, including lunch with his cousin's family somewhere far out in the wadi. Would definitely recommend the Milky Way!

The camp is small, intimate and very safe. It is considered to be the best location among them all for its distance from anything else. We are located south of the Protected Reserve, away from other tourists and surrounded by the best views ever. You will experience the atmosphere only found in the heart of the desert, and enjoy the dazzling night you have always been dreaming of. Bedrooms are Bedouin tents, cozy and comfortable in every season, which open directly onto the desert and positioned to ensure our guests the best privacy . Rest rooms are modern and clean, with flush toilets and showers with hot and cold running water. The dining area is a traditional semi-enclosed Bedouin tent with lounge, where you can recline to chat and drink endless cups of tasty local tea around the fire while gazing up at the amazing desert starry night. Meals are delicious and freshly prepared on site following the ancient local tradition: You will have the occasion to be delighted by Zarb, a banquet of meat and vegetables slow-cooked the traditional way in an underground oven. Our Cook is committed to offer you the best quality and to meet all the dietary needs of our guests. We love to host very passionate people, who is searching for a TRUE experience like hiking and climbing the monumental mountains (the tallest mountains in Jordan) all around, riding a camel, the traditional Bedouin transportation or hop on a jeep for an unforgettable tour of the unmissable spots in Wadi Rum Desert. We also offer to practice Sand Boarding on the Dunes. "Guided visit" of the desert amazing starry night with the possibility to sleep outside equipped to get all the comfort you might need, like mattress, blankets, pillows and unlimited bedouin tea and coffee. Wadi Rum is one of the most dramatic landscapes in the world. During the day it is a tremendous, silent, breathtaking panorama. During the night it is a place of tranquility and peace under the dark sky as the flames of the campfire mixe with all the desert stars. Nowhere do the stars shine as brightly as in Wadi Rum. Our tours aim to help you experience the wonders of our ancient Desert home. We offer tours by Jeep, Camel and on foot of the incredible sights of Wadi Rum. Come try traditional Bedouin cuisine and spend the overnight stay right in the Desert surrounded by peacefulness and stars.
Serenity, hospitality, friendliness, mindfulness, flexibility, knowledge, storytelling, authenticity - a true Bedouin - Nadjah, Salman, and their family. Secluded between 3 rock faces, in touch with natural wonders, tucked away from noise and light pollution, relax and let your self to stargazing and listening to the birds, wind, and sand humming, wake up early, and, when lucky as I was, observe desert birds, camels, and rare desert fox. Comfy and spacious rooms, individual bathroom (shower and toilet), electricity (British plugs), huge panoramic window to enjoy the surroundings and sunrise (camp oriented south east). Food is cooked on the spot. Amazing breakfast included. For dinner enjoy the Bedouin Zarb (all you can eat) - slowly cooked selection of veggies, meat, and spicy meat mixture. Proceed with affordable drinks, and end it up with hospitality tea enjoyed around the camp fire - relax on your back on a mattress and get immersed in the sky full of stars. Maybe a shooting star will grant you a wish. ;) We booked a full day JEEP tour around the desert - worth each dinar invested, especially taken the fair price (no need to haggle and negotiate believe me). Wadi Rum experienced at your own pace, like it should be, explore in the morning and evening, rest and shelter during the worst heat wave. Nadjah have accommodated to our curiosity - we took looooooong stops at places we found mesmerizing, fast-forwarded the places when it was too hot or difficult for our 7 year daughter. Tour covers all the important parts of Wadi Rum but in a reverse order, plus some less explored parts that we loved so much. The most of the time you will be under impression of being alone - appreciate the silence and nature sounds. A long stop for lunch and rest resourced us for the rest of the adventure - Nadjah takes a special pride and takes care of homemade fresh cooking - we have wiped clean our bowls. :) Support and love. Nothing fell short of the expectations. :) We appreciated the friendliness, honesty, and discussions we had over the cup of tea or while enjoying the desert. Nadjah is curious and wiling to share but will also give you space when you need it. Transport from Disah is organized by the host. IMPORTANT: be respectful of the desert and camp: - use water with MODERATION (it is towed from the Disah by a truck) - respect the nature and silence - bring your own towels and toiletries - bring back your trash (plastic, aluminum, glass, etc.) - you can consider offering food scraps (e.g. water mellon peel) to your host to give to animals when suitable. ENJOY! P.S. Photos will come soon.
