A colonial touch blended with the robust Tamil culture, Pondicherry is just a two-hour picturesque drive away from Chennai. Visit here for the cobblestone cycling-friendly streets, the rich history of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, and some of the best cafes in which to hang out. A place where lethargy is a virtue, enjoy the sun rise at the widely used beachfront. The same place converts into a local hangout at night when traffic is stopped and post-dinner walkers turn out for ice cream.

Kadal (the beach in english) house is a boutique villa located near Pondicherry in Kottakupum Serenity Beach. It is a traditional house with modern tasteful decor ! Guests benefit from a common terrace where there is a seating area to take the breakfast, an outdoor pool, and a garden. We booked a room for two days ..... they gave us a room on second floor... that room is not good at all for the price we gave ... i was highly disappointed by the room .. all I remember i was killing mosquitoes all the time with a bat they gave us. I m giving 3 star only for dinning area and for the staff. Booking this place was my huge mistake .. near by beach is serenity beach.. a fishing beach.. nothing to do .. and not safe also ( owner said this to us) No good food near the property For everthing you have to go white town. We stayed for 2 days in white town also.cheaper than this house So i felt i wasted my hard earned money here. Daily same average breakfast... they should include some basic things like fruits and cornflakes If u want something u have to go,find and tell them.

Beautiful setting, good location, clean room but what really made the stay exceptional was Daniel, who was so warm and incredibly helpful with all aspects of our stay. From where to go, where to eat to getting the transport we needed to carry on our journey. He did this in a friendly and personal manner - he was definitely not a 'false' customer service clone but warm and genuine. Though we may get a similar room elsewhere, we would return there for the wonderful hosting. Thank you, from the two Corinnes :)

Ambience of the guest house is nice, gives the feel of living in Tamil Nadu. Lobby is beautifully decorated every morning. Rooms are small though and lighting is not good inside room. Location is good as beach is at walkable distance and lot of eateries around.

Great vibe and great people. Highly recommended for solo travelers as these people, they got you. The volunteers handling the place, Kshitij, Deepika, Ricardo and Rakhi ji are just amazing. The minute i arrived there they had me covered like i had known them for years. And not just me, they did as much as they could to make sure everyone had a great time in Auroville depending on experiences different travellers seek. Very sweet souls and genuine people. What an experience to deal with such real people instead of a hospitality manual. Place is very welcoming for all and you'll find regulars turning up to say hi all the time. Nikhil the owner is himself available if need be and is a call away. Very chill guy. Interesting stories. Location is just the best. You're correctly placed for all that auroville has to offer to travelers. As for my recommendation I'd like to point out the fact that in my 5 days of stay I met 4 travelers who had stayed at Time Travellers earlier for months and some even several times and were revisiting when I was there. You are free to interpret it for yourself. :)

Reservation booking was easy and the staff courteous. Room was a bit congested but could have been more tidy instead of unclean washrooms and insufficient linen. TV set in the room was an apology with a broken remote and the AC unit was working on its own switching on and off. Ample car parking being occupied by the customers to the adjacent wine shop made the car entry difficult resulting in the driver parking the car on the road and sleeping in it for the night. If only the room environment was as good as their accounting software which had neatly detailed items, I could have a re-look. Otherwise, not my choice of hotel for a re-visit.

We booked Quiet Home through Booking.com for the long Republic Day weekend (family trip). The place had decent reviews there and the sought-after resorts had been booked already, so we decided to go with Quiet Home. The place is close to MG Road, off the main road, just behind Serenity Beach. Each time we had to go into town (White Town and the city centre), we had to drive through MG Road, so location-wise, not the best location, I would say. The hotel has one block constricted and ready-to-use (where we stayed) It has another block being constructed right next to this block. So construction work is going on in full swing and workers are moving about, not a pleasant sight if you're looking for a relaxed seaside vacation. The family room is quite large and spacious, sufficient for 4-5 people easily. The room was comfortable overall. However, there was no hot water available in our room, this despite having solar power overhead and calling the staff 2-3 times to try and get it rectified. The staff would come, open the taps, let the water flow and just go away, saying hot water would eventually come, but it never did. In this matter, the staff and caretaker are pretty rude and the way they spoke to us was quite bad. The caretaker kept blaming us for this hot water issue, not accepting their mistake/negligence at all. Also, the staff speaks only Tamil, so language is a big concern here if you do not know Tamil. Breakfast served was okayish. Also, Booking.com does not propagate advance payment, but the hotel took advance payment to block the room, which was not done at all and against Booking.com policies. All-in-all, not the stay we would have liked and enjoyed in a wonderful place like Pondicherry. There were issue galore, and the staff needs to be more courteous and look after its guests better for them to return or suggest the place to others.
