Just a few minutes' walk from Lake Yamanakako, Kounso offers cozy rooms. Some rooms have a seating area where you can relax after a busy day. The bathroom and shower room are shared with other guests. There is a large bathtub in the bathroom, and the usage time has been decided by men and women. Japanese-style rooms have a toilet. Western-style rooms are shared toilets. There is a shared lounge at the property. You can play billiards at the inn.
This ryokan was located just 1 min walk from the lake side. It has all basic amenities. Bath with separate timing for male and female and it was a nice experience for 1st timer like my family. It also offered free bicycle usage but the weather is too cold to use it. Our quad room was spacious for our family with 2 adults and 2 young children. It has 2 type of heating, undertable and a separate heater unit. But the heater is using gasoline, hence there will be occasional gasoline smell especially during starting, but it's transient. The staff was friendly, we mostly communicate using Google translate. It's overall a great experience there and it offered great value for money. Highly recommended place to stay in yamanakako lake.

Perfect place to stay for photographer of videographer alike who wants convenience of viewing Mt Fuji. You just need to cross the street and Mount Fuji is visible clearly. On top of that, the shuttle bus (red line) will also alight you right in front of the property, convenient! However, if you are particular about upkeep, amenities - then this is not what the property is offering. During our stay, I had to deal with insects, giant moth and spiders. The bed arrangement doesn't smell and look like the most hygienic too. In conclusion, the place is old - but the only motivation to stay here is the view of Mount Fuji!

Stayed one night in this new hotel and the staff were fantastic. Absolutely helpful in every way from entrance to the point of even driving us to the station when no taxi was available and it was raining. The family room we stayed in was very spacious and had the most amazing view of Mt Fuji. For the cheap price I highly recommend this and would stay again. Only negative is the semi detached location but only a short 5 minute walk to the lake.

freely, Carefree, Stayed in, have fun! ! ! We will introduce you the beautiful places of Japan and Mt. Fuji. Please enjoy traveling in Japan.
This little hidden gem is a great place to stay in the shadow of Mt Fuji. Our group had two rooms, one with bunk beds and one with tatami mat flooring. Both were very nice. The bathroom was a common area but was private. The breakfast we had was just amazing. The owners were great. The night we arrived they served us green tea and sat an talked with us. At breakfast they chatted some more. Sharing stories and pictures. If I ever make back to Japan I surely want to go back here.

A good value for families, this hotel offers a free breakfast bar (juice, coffee, and bread) and is relatively quiet. The rooms don't smell as disinfected as other hotels, but there's no smoking and there's free wifi.

3 of us girls were traveling through Kawaguchiko in order to climb mt Fuji, and we are beyond happy with our stay. This is a great value located on the street inside where all the more expensive lakefront hotels are located. To put some context as to us as guests, we spoke very minimal (aka none other than basic greetings) Japanese, but the owner is very very accommodating and can write English well (communicating via email and written through online translator). However, it should be clear that this is not the place to go to if you expect the staff to speak English fluently. We had just left Tokyo after 2 nights at the Tokyo Station Hotel so this was quite a change but still well worthwhile for the money. Some of the other lakefront hotels wanted around 1k for 3 people whereas wakamizusou was ~180$ for the room and 120$ for 3 peoples dinner (4,000yen/person) A few things of note: - The owner was lovely and picked us up from the kawaguchiko train/bus station (its a quick 10-15 min walk otherwise or a 8$ taxi) - there is no shower in each room only a toilet and sink, but there is a shared bath/onsen separated for male and females in the ground floor. We were the only people in there although we did not stay during busy season (June 30th) -Japanese style beds on the floor but were quite comfortable. - he let us use the guest refrigerator to store food for the hike next to our guest room -kaiseki dinner was absolutely phenomenal, especially for the value. Although obviously different, this was a nice change of pace from the ***michelins we have been going to in Tokyo. And the food quality was very good and utterly delicious. My two friends had just stayed in a more expensive ryokan in Hokkaido and although the dinner there was better presented, they preferred the homey-ness and flavor of this dinner. -we left the hotel at 245am so did not get to try the breakfast... but if dinner was any example I’m sure it was great -each room has it’s own ac and hot water heater -we were able to store our luggage until we returned back from the climb! The owner then also allowed us to use the bath to shower post climb even though we had already checked out! -he then graciously offered to drive us back to the train station All in all, this is simple for accommodations but is great value if a private shower isn’t a must for you. Service is great, and the food is fantastic. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

Just 5 minutes from Kawaguchiko station You can enjoy Japanese old and modern style only private room hostel
We loved our stay here. The staff at frontdesk is so nice and so helpful: whatever you need during your stay, they will arrange (car rental, Japanese seats for room, good restaurant-advice). The room is supplied with very nice thick duvets, Japanese-style tatami and futons, and you will find a fridge and kettle too. The shower is really nice, with good pressure and nice ‘n warm. Room is warm and comfortable. Located opposite the station, this place is surely recommended!
