Stayed for 3 nights the reception staff were lovely and helpful. Room had a lot of space which was good to put our newborns play-mat and bouncer. There was also a nice comfy sofa for feeding our baby. Big shower with amazing pressure! Handy to have the train across the road that heads straight into wellington and two pubs that sell delicious food a dairy and cafes close by.

Excellent location, walking distance to restaurants of which there is a great selection. Very comfortable night sleep for weary travelers from Bay of Plenty. Shame the weather was so windy and wet as the view in the morning from the second floor was spectacular... Must be a good place as a number of truck drivers and tradies were staying as well.

Nice hotel with clean spacious rooms but our room backed onto the main road so it was really noisy. We were suggested to keep all windows closed to stop cigarette smoke from smokers drifting into the rooms and to keep the traffic noise down but that wasn't really possible in the hot weather. The smoking was pretty bad and unpleasant as it filled the rooms quickly. Otherwise, everything was clean and comfortable.

Fernhill Motor Lodge is conveniently located 8 minutes drive north of Wellington city centre.26 luxury accommodation units, ample off street parking and is extremely handy to the Interislander ferry, train station, Hutt Hospital and motorway.
Stayed here one night after a ferry crossing from Picton. Place was advertised as a luxury motor lodge & conference centre. The room had a very strong mildewy smell and shower had lots of black mould in the corners. If we had it paid at reception on arrival and due to lateness we would have left and found somewhere else. It looks rundown and as if it has been closed up for sometime. Located right by motorway and train line so a lot of noise. Would not stay again

11/10 service. Staff were amazing to deal with! Very accommodating, we had a trailer so staff made room for secure overnight parking. Arranged to leave the trailer a little longer than check out time so we could enjoy some near by outtings. Great location right by the seafront - excellent cafe right across the road on seafront. Rooms are slighty dated but great for a 1 night away. Would stay again. Recommend !

The owner was rude beyond compare. Before arriving the man rang me angry to say I booked to rooms yet we only booked one and he had sent me an invoice for ONE room not two. During our stay the train was extremely loud and you can hear everyone walking upstairs above us which kept us up most of the night. Once we left I realised I had left my Jacket in the room. He falsely accused my grandmother and I of stealing towels and refused to give my jacket back unless we paid $30. Our room only had 1 towel in it yet he claims there were 2 when we left and he said there should be 4. A few days after leaving he called me and accused us of not paying for our room yet we paid 4 days prior to staying and had a reference and proof to show it was paid. So all up he wanted us to pay for our room again plus $30 for "missing towels" before he gave me my jacket. Absolutely appalling attitude!! I have never experienced this in my life and we will never come back!

I just want to say a massive thank you to mama Jan! From the moment we moved in it felt like home because of her, she kept me and my 3year old safe, kept the place spotless, cared, helped when we needed help and would go over and beyond to help anyone. She’s a hard working woman and having her there made our stay that much better!

This motel is well situated however it is on a hill and the room I had was up a flight of stairs. There was no one in reception so I could not request help and so getting me and my luggage to my room was almost more than I could manage. If they had advertised that there was no lift, I wouldn't have booked. The room was clean but that's the best thing I can say. Do not stay here if you are not very young and fit. The bathroom light did not work and neither did the TV. Definitely not worth it's 3 star rating.
