We stayed for two nights in a triple room. It was a spacious room and the public arenas are nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is small but sufficient for a dip, at the end of the day. Overall it is clean, spacious and excellent value

We stayed 3 nights. Breakfast was abundant and good. Quiet place for a good sleep. Lots of space with bed area, living room, bathroom and basic kitchen. Would have liked a microwave or at least a kettle to boil water. Wifi excellent. We had been staying in cities, and this was the perfect choice for a more authentic stay. Best of all, a little restaurant a 2 minute walk away had the best, basic, slow cooked, authentic food... so tasty, we went back every day for lunch and tried something different! Portions were huge and they happily gave us a take away box, so we had the left overs for dinner, equally good. I think the name was Nicoles Cafe, although the receipt for the meal said ‘Sports Bar’. Anyway, we were very impressed by this little restaurant and their fresh, tasty food. Meal of meat or fish, salad, bread, olives, potatoes was 9 Euros.

This was a real find, a very comfortable inexpensive typically Portuguese hotel run by the most charming couple you could ever wish to meet. Once there we didn’t need to move.... drinks in the pretty garden followed by a delicious home cooked dinner of braised pigs cheeks and a bottle of fine Reguengos reserva... a wonderful stay..

Herdade dos Mestres is such a charming and cozy lodge and the owners are amazing hosts. You can tell they put a lot of love and thought in all the details to ensure guests have a fantastic experience. Additionally, the area has amazing landscapes and there are lot of different activities you can do so, it is ideal for both relaxing or more adventure style of holidays. I totally recommend it, hope to come back soon!

Casa de Baco is a cosy guest house located in the small settlement of Igrejinha, 18 km from Évora-Portugal. It features an outdoor swimming pool and holds wine tasting sessions. Each room at Casa de Baco has its own decoration and a modern private bathroom. The suite includes a four-poster bed and a sofa with chaise longue. Overlooking the swimming pool, the bar and restaurant serves traditional cuisine from the Alentejo region, as well as a few more innovative flavours. Breakfast is served here every morning. Casa de Baco features a terrace with an outdoor pool, perfect for the warm summer days. Free WiFi is provided. Arraiolos, famous for the tapestries is 10 km from Baco, and Evoramonte is 20 km away. The Roman Temple of Evora is around 18 km, as well as the Cathedral of Evora.
We arrived late and were very friendly received. We were upgraded to a marge room with a double bed. Breakfast is good for small eaters like us with bread, jams, cheese, ham, local sausage, fresh fruit cereals and fruit juices.

Casa do Escritor An elegant house being run as a small inn that was built in 1742. It is located in the heart of the old walled city of Evora. It is a little hard to find- there’s just a small plaque on the wall next to the door. Once inside it opens up to a spacious walled enclave with a pool and nice grounds. Parking can be an issue. He does have one indoor space that requires a separate fee. Other cars can be parked at a nearby garage also for a fee. The proprietor is one of the most friendly and helpful people you will ever meet. He is fluent in English, French and Spanish. He lives on the premises with his family in a separate apartment. He told us the property has 37 rooms but he only rents out five. There is a lounge/ library/ TV room next to the dining room where breakfast is served. The individual rooms have no TVs. Our room was average sized and had a king bed and two nightstands with lights. Hanging space is limited. There are a few power plugs in the room but no USB ports. The bathroom has a spacious shower with good water pressure. The sink has very little counter space but there is a multi storied table next to it for storage and toiletries. The bathroom has a powered exhaust fan- the first we’ve seen in Portugal. The provided wall mounted hair dryer is very weak. There is no shaving/makeup mirror. Breakfast is from 0830 to 1000 and is a nice buffet of cereals, pastries, breads, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee/tea, yoghurt,cheeses/meats etc. The location is excellent as it is only a few minutes walk to any of the sites in town. You might find more luxurious lodgings in Èvora but you will not find a more gracious or helpful host. We had to leave at 7:15 the morning after our last night and he insisted on getting up early and having breakfast for us. He also parked our car for us in his garage as it takes considerable maneuvering to get it inside from the tiny street outside. Very highly recommended.
