Roughly translated as "fountain of flowers," Bloemfontein is known as the City of Roses, both because of the abundance of the blooms throughout the city and the annual festival dedicated to the flower. As the seat of the South African Supreme Court, the city is the judicial capital of the country as well as the provincial capital of Free State. Several sports teams and stadiums also call the city home, and its many museums outline the history of the region.

Sangiro Lodge is just outside Bloemfontein and very close to the Shell Ultra City at the exit from the N1 to Bloemfontein.Sangiro Lodge is on a small game reserve and you will probably see some antelope when you relax on the veranda of your wooden chalet. The chalets are spread out in front of a rocky hill and offer unique privacy and excellent views. Each chalet at Sangiro Lodge provides a deck with a braai and small seating area, a bedroom and bathroom with shower. The accommodation is basic, clean and spacious and as such is perfect for an overnight stay near Bloemfontein. The lodge serves a good breakfast with great hospitality.
Such conflicting feelings after our stay at Sangiro lodge. The property itself it beautiful, there are peacocks roaming everywhere and we could see cows, sheep, zebra and buck from our chalet. There is central heating which was so welcomed with the cold nights which are creeping in. However, there was hair under the duvet on the bed on our arrival, a dirty wet towel hanging behind the bathroom door, the kitchen cloth was sopping wet, no bin bag and the carpet by the couch really did not look clean either. We were travelling with a crawling baby, so all of this just did not quite sit well unfortunately. Would we go back? Yes, but next time, we will call after booking and make sure the unit is properly turned over upon our arrival.

Acacia Lodge is an upmarket Guesthouse in a well established suburb of Bloemfontein.
Very nice setup with friendly staff and great service. It has become a custom to stay over at Acacia Lodge when traveling via Bloemfontein. Easy accessible from the N1. Also being pet friendly makes this stay over even better

Lizbe Accommodation is situated in a quiet and safe cul de sac in the charming, leafy suburb of Waverley, an upmarket northern area of Bloemfontein. It lies on the slopes bordering Naval Hill, a large wildlife sanctuary with free-roaming springbok, Blue Wildebeest and a few giraffe. Only 2 kilometres from the city centre, it’s an easy walk down the tree-lined streets to the heart of Bloemfontein
The place is very peaceful in a quiet and safe location, good for rest after a long day. The host was very friendly. The place is also clean and well tidied. I had a very pleasant stay. Great hospitality!

We stayed at De Stallen guesthouse after we had a wedding in bloemfontein. The rooms were impeccable, the bedding and towels of the highest quality. The property is also breathtaking and the owners very helpful!

Besides the single beds and lack of blankets in a cold province during a cold time, the air-conditioning only blasted hot air for 5 seconds spurts all night and the shower was moldy. Insects had built some sort of nesting area as well in the bathroom.

Beautiful area with wonderful hospitality and the peace and stillness of the area is definitely the place to be. You can also hear the African Fish Eagles during the day. Surely a place i will visit again in the future.

Being unhappy with the hotel that we booked in before going to Bloemfontein we were desperate for another place after two days. Ideal for business trips as it is located close to almost all places you would want to visit, yet in a quiet neighbourhood. We loved the privacy and Erina is extremely helpful. Nice size bathroom. But if you don’t like dogs, it is not recommended for you as the pets are very friendly and love to visit the guests.

Nice place, however for the 3 days that my husband was there, there was no warm water. He told reception about it, and nothing was done. He had to shower in cold water everyday. This was unacceptable.

We arrived after booking our room about 6 weeks in advance, just to be told they changed our rooms because of people making a booking after us. We arrived at 14:35 just to be told 3 our our 7 rooms are not cleaned yet. The towels has seen better days and are hard old and full of marks, when complaining we were told don't worry it's just hair dye. The other guest In the lodge was there for a wedding taking over every space drinking and loud noise. Had to phone front desk. Slamming doors continued throu until early hours of the morning. The reception people dish up breakfast before all the guest had breakfast so some guest did not receive a full breakfast. The wedding guests were allowed to go into the kitchen and make their own breakfast, walking with their pajamas infront of everyone without underwear. On Saturday, my room was not even serviced I arrived back to get ready for a function after 14:00, just to find my room as I left it. Luckily it was not messy and did it myself. I will not recommend this place at all. If it was possible we would have moved our accommodation, but time was not on our side. When complaining to the owner IT he got an attitude.
