Visitors at this Weaving Workshop can experience Yamagata’s traditional Yonezawa-ori hand weaving and safflower dyeing by themselves. There are many original Japanese trinkets and distinctive carefully-selected products made from Yonezawa-ori woven fabrics available in the onsite shop. Izu Kokeshi Kobo Doll Workshop is located in Ginzan Onsen, which was made famous by the TV series ‘Oshin.’ The kokeshi doll which features in the series as Oshin’s prized possession was made by Mamoru Izu, a second-generation craftsman of the workshop.
