Visitors at this Weaving Workshop can experience Yamagata’s traditional Yonezawa-ori hand weaving and safflower dyeing by themselves. There are many original Japanese trinkets and distinctive carefully-selected products made from Yonezawa-ori woven fabrics available in the onsite shop. Access: Approx. 8 min by car from JR Yonezawa Station
Shinaori Fabrics: People in the Sekigawa area which borders Nigata prefecture have succeeded Shinaori fabrics made from Shina tree fiber. It is one of the three best fabrics in Japan. You can easily learn how to make the fabric in the Nukumori hall at the center.
Flower Shop
Izu Kokeshi Kobo Doll Workshop is located in Ginzan Onsen, which was made famous by the TV series ‘Oshin.’ The kokeshi doll which features in the series as Oshin’s prized possession was made by Mamoru Izu, a second-generation craftsman of the workshop. Located near the Main Shop is a craft art hall, where visitors can try their hand at painting a kokeshi doll. (Reservation required/Charges apply)
