Gamidah is really such a great host, tour guide and cooking instructor that it’s hard to give enough superlatives. Delightful and friendly, she knows the Bo Kaap area like only a local can! Our two boys (aged 11 and 13) loved the tour and cooking and got their hands dirty (after thorough cleaning). The food was wonderful and a joy to cook. We learned how to make Samosa, chilli bites, Roti, Chicken Curry and a great tomato sambal. Both boys said this was now their favourite cuisine. Highly recommended, and if you contact them directly, you get a much better rate than here or viator. This is great and a good give back compared to just turning up and taking photos without giving anything to the community.

we were two families with total of 5 kids visiting ranging from 2 to 10. The experience of watching David make a piece then teaching each child to make their own bowl on the wheel was incredible. David has patience for all ages and really was able to help each child create a unique piece. the studio is beautiful and has so much to look at if big and small pieces! I’d recommend making an appointment ahead to be sure to have enough time for the workshop which was so easy with a call ahead the day before. The kids learned so much while visiting and the gardens to walk around in were beautiful and inspiring!

My sister received this Diamond Package perfume workshop experience, as one of her 60th Birthday gifts from her son. I was the lucky one, as he said that she could invite another person to join her. Daniela is extremely knowledgeable on the history of perfumes and in fact "anything perfume". A beautiful and friendly atmosphere and in the workshop a grand experience of your senses, as your sense of smell is bombarded with fragrances that enhance your "happy place" mood. I walked away, clutching my precious gift bag of concentrated perfumed oil, 60ml of perfume spray and perfumed crème, vowing to be back when I had used up my stash. Daniela assisted me to create a unique scent for myself, which I will be using as my signature scent. I cannot sing the praises of this workshop more!!!

South Africans are found selling wire animals everywhere that tourists stop. Don’t buy any until you go to Streetwires. Their animals are so much more skillfully made than any you will see on the streets. We were in CapeTown on a Saturday so we did not get to see the artisans making their products. That would make this stop even better. But we were thrilled with our purchases, and they packed up boxes of treasure to send home for us. Prices are reasonable, and the people working there are friendly and very helpful. A great stop!

Africa Photographic Services

Africa Photographic Services (APS) provides Photographic equipment rentals delivered to the safari lodges in the Greater Kruger area We deliver and collect 7 days a week, but the shop has scheduled hours. We do photographic safaris and tutoring.

I was in two minds about booking this service while staying at the Makanyi Game Lodge, but so glad I did. I opted for the two days option, to manage costs, although four days is also possible. Hilton (Kotze) is a tremendous and patient teacher. He took time to understand my abilities (limited) and geared his tutoring to reflect this. He was also careful to understand what I wanted from the photographs and how I would use them. An all round brilliant experience with a great bloke.
