Trujillo is a lively intersection of ancient culture and modern arts. See ancient ruins at the Chan Chan archaeological site and be awed by the Moche Huaca del Sol y la Luna (temples of the sun and moon.). The multicolored Tunnel of Wishes on the Paseo de Aguas is a fabulous place for people-watching. Locally brewed corn beer is worth a try. After doing a bit of research, it became pretty clear that there weren't all that many great restaurant options in Trujillo. I stumbled upon this restaurant using Trip Advisor, only to have my hotel's concierge suggest exactly the same restaurant. Thinking this was a good sign, we had dinner at Chelsea, and it was a great experience.Chelsea is primarily a bar and music venue, but they have two sections of the establishment, and we sat in the restaurant section, away from the crowds. Service was very friendly, and while our servers did not speak English and did not have an English menu, we did our best to communicate using Spanish.Portions are huge - we ended up finishing very few of our entrees, and felt bad about that. The Mexican platter starter (entrada) was so huge we could have stopped there. Definitely order it if you have a big party. We also enjoyed some of the seafood entree options, but would probably not recommend the pastas - it's just not their specialty.

If you are a one time tourist, I highly recommend getting the Fantasia combo plate which includes 4 kinds of preparations: cerviche, fried, butter poached?, and with rice. All 4 were so good. Lots of fish and shellfish along with squid or octopus. I'd recommend starting with the cerviche before the fish is over cooked in the acidity followed quickly with the fried seafood while it is still hot and crunchy. Must go for anyone visiting Trujillo.

Coco Torete offers an excellent selection of grilled meats that our table enjoyed. The portions were huge especially the ribs. They were very specific as to how the beef would be done. The sides of roasted vegetables that included peppers and potatoes were tasty. Unfortunately, they used canned mushrooms for the barbecued and ceviche mushrooms and resulted in a poor selection. The service was friendly and efficient.

I ate at this restaurant as part of a group attending a conference in Trujillo dedicated to Peruvian poet César Vallejo. The food was great and recommended. The reason I would recommend you eat here, however, is for it's connection to one of the twentieth century's greatest poets. Vallejo lived in one of the rooms on the second floor while he was studying at the university in Trujillo. Look him up. Although little recognized during his life, Vallejo is as iconic a figure in Peru as Pablo Neruda is in Chile. Enjoy!

I ate dinner one night in early May at El Mochica. My goal was to taste cabrito con frijoles â goat stew with beans. I thought the goat among the most tender and tasty Iâve ever had, but I thought the beans seriously overcooked. I began with an excellent soup of greens and enjoyed the slice of cooked yucca served with the meal. Overall, I found it a good place to try this traditional dish.

Casona Deza is the most beautiful colonial house of the Americas. It is also known as Casona de los Leones. The ambient is spectacular and the food is homemade. We cultivate most of the ingredients and promote healthy eating. We take pride on the selectio
Maybe it's because it was a Tuesday night, but felt like eating in an abandoned house, the place is beautiful, has nice architecture but sometimes this is not enough, interior design is urgently needed, food was OK, prices higher than average, and for this reason it surprised me the quality of the menu, pages were broken, need to print them again and replace, service was good, not sure if I will come back

Best ceviche I have had! Well served, big plates, good service. And if you choose the chef's suggestions, they give you a free Cuzqueña beer. I also ordered the pescado a lo macho and it was amazing. I was lucky in that I stayed at the hotel so was able to enjoy Las Bovedas whenever I wanted over six days. I ate breakfast daily and dinner here multiple evenings and enjoyed everything from asparagus soup to mixed salad to delicious steak to fresh ceviche: in fact their ceviche (seabass) was my favorite ceviche dish that I had in all of Peru! I am still dreaming about it. The service was wonderful - every single time. Don't hesitate to go here if time (and appetite) allows.Dear Wildcat98,Thank you very much for your visit and leave your comments in our restaurant The Vaults TripAdvisor .Your expectations saber puts us very happy that the quality and service have been exceeded. With Respect Our culinary offer, the chef , Juan Ramos , has developed a letter in which it has added value adding Product Diversity in the region. It will be a pleasure to welcome you personally on your next visit .best regardsJorge MarroquinA & B Manager

Great food in a beautiful colonial style building. It was a place full of locals so it wasn't typical touristy food. I'd definitely return and have recommended it to friends of mine visiting Trujillo.
We ate at Squalos on the last night of our Trujillo trip thanks to trip advisor and LOVED the food and their staff. Restaurant is gorgeous and the staff is so friendly with our limited (yet trying hard) English speaking waiter explaining the dishes and answering our questions.Had the creamed asparagus soup and Langostino as an appetizer. Both great I had a traditional chicken dish which was incredibly flavorful and like nothing chicken wise I had ever eaten.Squalos was a wonder trip advisor find with its dynamite food and wonderful staff. Do not hesitate to make your way there for dinner!

I went to Celler de Cler on two nights during recent visit. I loved the books and the quirky atmosphere. First night I had a delicious and perfectly cooked medium (término medio) steak in a wine and beer sauce with sautéed vegetables including fresh mushrooms. Sweet of lightly grilled caramelizad bananas was really outstanding. Second night I had the salad with olives and goats cheese as a main. Honestly this was a bit small, and perhaps the waitress could have pointed that out. She graciously recognized this so I decided to give a five star anyway as had so many pluses. Including the lively doorman who points out not to trip on the step.
