Cabuche is said to have the best pozole in the city--and pozole, soup of maiz, should be tasted in Oaxaca, where maiz was domesticated. Cabuche also has lots of other good local food, including burritos with a lovely salad, craft beer, and excellent classic margaritas Actually Cabuche has three types of pozole\; white (natural), red (with salsa), and my fav green (with pepina seeds). In the pozole, you have a choice of mushrooms, shrimp, pork, or chicken. And there are various small dishes you can eat on the side on drop in the soup--I especially recommend avocado and the local cheese. Over four weeks, we ate at Cabuche four or five times.

Food was off the hook delicious and beautifully plated! I highly recommend the plantain dumplings for a shared starter and duck breast. Yogurt espuma for desert was the perfect ending. Wine and mezcal list were excellent. Room is very beautiful and in a great location near the Zócalo. Our server, however, was a but of a dud - taking far too long to acknowledge us at the table as well as providing awkward service during our meal.

Best chile rellenos ever! that's all I ordered besides limonade and flan de quest. No side dishes. Two of these Chile rellenos were plenty and delicious! Service excellent. The waiter recommended the flan de queso over the flan de plantano and it was a delicious combination of flan and cheesecake - not quite either but really fab. It was nice sitting in the courtyard.I will definitely return.

I ate at many of the restaurants listed in trip advisor over an 8 day period in Oaxaca. Decided to try this place because it was always crowded with the mixture of Mexican and non Mexican tourists. The food was from the isthmus of Mexico. Authenic but dif
I read the reviews and can see how some would find the staff absentee, especially if there were more than a couple tables. We went at a non-busy time ( mid-afternoon) and had acceptable service. For vegetarians they were accommodating. The house appetizer contained fish and I said we donât eat any meat, not even fish. He replaced it with cheese! We had a nice vegetarian soup and another vegetarian dish similar to a quesadilla, but layered with other flavors. See photos. This is the only restaurant that Iâve eaten at where they have FREE WATER.

This place was well reviewed here on TripAdvisor, and we had vegetarians among our group, so it was a logical choice. We were, nonetheless, deeply impressed--the owner/chef was our waitress, and she was impressively knowledgeable and informed. She knew every detail of the traditions of food in her state, and was very generous with her knowledge.Beyond the knowledge was the food. We tried 6 different dishes, and were deeply impressed with each one. The mole negro and the mole verde were both unique and tasty. The two chiles rellenos that we tried (requeson with orange sauce, chipotles with beans and ants) were both unique and fascinating. The sopa de guia (squash vine soup) was an entirely new experience for us. The atole de amaranto was great. In sum, this place is a place to come and try several things on the menu. Come in a group that is willing to trade plates around so that you try lots of things.

If you can sit upstairs on the deck, the ambience is nice. Downstairs, its nothing special. The food was good but nothing to shout ablout. Its a nice touch that the waiter makes fresh salsa and guacamole at your table.

Casa Taviche offers a new dining experience in Oaxaca City. Our dishes highlight the traditional Oaxacan standards. We feature a rotating daily menu with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal, local Oaxacan flavors. We have some options for vegetarian, vegan and
Great little find with lovely friendly staff. The menu is small and each dish tastes amazing. All about the quality of the menu here rather than the quantity which is always a good sign. The three course set lunch menu for less than 100 Pesos is top value, and clearly the chef knows what he is doing with great flavour combinations. Lovely courtyard to sit in too.

Los Danzantes Oaxaca is a complete experience for all the senses: food, mezcal, service, decoration, ambience and music join to get that result. Traditional with a touch of nouveau ceeating a relaxing environment perfect to enjoy a unique meal! (A custome
Time wise, it didn't work out for us to go for dinner or lunch, but we stopped in for an appetizer and drinks and I can't wait to go back for a full meal! The design and decor is just beautiful, actually a bit magical, and the food was superb! We ordered one of the shrimp appetizers from their lounge menu and it was more than enough for two. The shrimp were tender and mixed with some vegetables and cheese inside crisp blue corn tortillas.Just delicious! My husband tried one of the Mezcals, a bit smokey and quite tasty, but a bit much for him. I had a wonderful Mezcal cocktail which contained some sort of crushed green plant and rose water. It was light and refreshing but definitely had a kick to it. This is one of the most popular restaurants in town, so a reservation is recommended, at least a day in advance. Our waiter spoke fluent English, so that was helpful and they do take credit cards. The entrance is on a pedestrian only street and a bit hard to find but totally worth the effort. You won't be disappointed!
