Here it is possible to take a tour of the famous Rouge Factory, a manufacturing plant so large that it once had its own fire and police departments. Camino Real's History started ages ago, but if we were to give it a beginning date, it would have to be in spring of 2008 when the first Camino Real Mexican Grill opened its doors to the public. The first location started as a two story house and garage t
Although Camino Real Mexican Grill is located in southwest Detroit, it is not in the "Mexican Village" area Detroiters typically head to for Mexican food. This restaurant is located in a renovated home in a residential/industrial part of SW Detroit. The atmosphere is pleasant, we were seating in an airy and light sort of patio area with plenty of room between tables. We also noted that the majority of our fellow diners were Latino, which we took as a good sign (we were right). On our visit ther were several families with children enjoying well-prepared south of the border fare. Service was prompt and friendly. The chips and salsa were fine, if not particularly memorable. The large, rather expansive menu was a bit overwhelming, but since tacos seem to be the house specialty my dining companion and I went with that. I chose the taco dinner which came with three tacos, rice, beans and salad. I had my choice of six meat options (including the unusual tongue and chrorizo). I opted for pollo (chicken), carne asada (fine steak), and al pastor (marinated pork). All were excellent, my favorite being the al pastor. Each taco was served in a soft corn tortilla (flour is available) and topped optionalwhite cheese (queso fresca), cilantro, and onions. They are good-sized and filling. And packed with flavor. My partner tried the Tacos Dorados and was very pleased with her choice. Three crispy rolled tacos filled with potatoes or chicken (she had some of each) were a new experience and a pleasant one at that. The shell reminded me a bit of a light spring-roll wrap, just a bit more substantial. topped with sour cream and cheese, these were simply delicious. As with the taco dinner, her meal was accompanied by rice and beans, which were pretty much the standard stuff one expects. One further note: You get a good bang for your buck here. Our two meals, with soft drinks, came to $17.00 before tip. That's not much more than Taco Bell for two people, and the experience is light years better. If you are looking for a change of pace from Mexican Village in Detroit...try Camino Real. Highly recommended.

Five of us ate there and all had a great meal at a great price. I haven't tasted better Mexican food outside of Mexico. Staff is friendly and eager to please. Two of us shared a meal...extra plate brought out without being asked or charging extra. Best lime margaritas ever...not too sweet or too weak!. Ordered 1/2 liter for the 3 adults to share...what a deal at $13! Left a Yeti cup on the table... manager raced a block to catch up with us and return it. Thank you all!

We enjoyed an early evening meal here recently with a friend who highly recommended this taqueria. Do try one of El Nacimiento's DELICIOUS margarita beverage selections! Very smooth and tasty as well as reasonably priced. The crispy, warm, fresh tortilla chips and different salsas were a treat too. My companion and I really enjoyed the botana appetizer. It was very fresh. This is a festive, family friendly restaurant. Note that adjacent parking is off the street and free - another plus on busy Clark Street in this thriving wonderfully ethnic neighborhood!

We stopped in for a quick bite at this wonderful little restaurant. The delicious smells alone attracted me before I even entered within!Wait staff were friendly and prompt in getting to us. Salsa was hot and went so well with the fresh chips! The horchata was cold and tasty. My soft corn taco that enveloped the tilapia was great! The price point is inexpensive, and so, itâs cash-only. For authentic Hispanic cuisine this is a great choice.

Never had El-Salvadorian food before but then why call it authentic? Because of the crowd which filled up very well for a Friday lunch, mostly Latin American because the restaurant is located in the Mexican part of town. Its a very clean hole in the wall and my server could not speak English and some of the customers helped. The food was exceptionally fresh, very tasty, and very inexpensive. I did not have their Merisco as I wanted to try Pupusas (corn roti/bread, freshly made and filled with different options). I had one with cheese and the second with shrimp. The rice, bean and spicy lettuce were all awesome. Had the Mexican tamarind drink which I love. Would go back in a jiffy. Safe for lunch time, not sure about evenings. But excellent dining experience, no frill but all tasteful.

Introducing Nuevo Latino Cuisine presented in gourmet tacos, tortas, and tapas minutes away from downtown Detroit in historical Dearborn. We also feature our Juices & Smoothie M Bar where you can find blends to rehydrate, energize or refresh!
Randomly picked this place while visiting Ford for business meeting and it exceeded expectations. When we first looked in window we almost turned around because we didnât see tables in the back. Sure glad we went in because the service was friendly, there were tons of hot sauces and the food was delicious. Not a lot of seating but at least 6 tables to seat 4-6 people. Lots of bar seating and the drinks looked amazing- I stuck to water which was served in neat metallic glasses that kept drink icy cold. Would definitely return!

Just received a phone call---four hours before our Saturday night reservation. Returned the voice message, and the person stated that they were calling to inform me that "chef is not accepting credit cards tonight. Cash Only." WOW! Saturday night/busiest night out. Reservation made days ago through YELP, and confirmed by me via YELP this morning. I questioned the last minute nature of this "announcement." She said that they had tried to reach me via e-mail, but it had been returned as undeliverable by YELP....weird, since I had no problems communicating with YELP. In any case, WHY would you do this on such late notice, when people who have made plans (mine involves a friend driving in 45 minutes from the suburbs)?? Even if you have an objection to credit cards for whatever reason (did you just get your fee raised?), you don't take it out on your customers. You change your website to indicate that you are a cash-only establishment. The caller offered to cancel my reservation. REALLY? Where else are we going to go on such short notice??!! Really, really poor form. I had highly recommended this restaurant to my friend, based on a number of outstanding dining experiences in the past. Will probably not return after tonight.

This is our second visit to El Barzon. The first time was very good - typical speed for a busy restaurant and good food. This time the restaurant wasn't full. Our waiter, Pablo, was great...right there whenever we needed him. My Caesar salad and lasagna were very good. My husband said the veal dish and the seafood appetizer were excellent. I'm sure we will return again more than once.

Like others, I was looking forward to our dinner at Taqueria Mi Pueblo. It was recommended by a coworker and received such great acclaim. Our experience is summed up as disappointing. The food (tostadas and quesadillas) came out fast. Maybe too fast? There was no flavor in anything. Nothing. The tostadas looked good but were described as bland. My quesadillas were totally void of flavor and spice. Rice and beans were just as boring. As we labored through this meal, we realized we had been here years before and had a similar, unimpressive experience. We won't be coming back. There are many worthy places to get your Mexican food fix. This is not one of them.
