This jazz bar wasn't always known for its smooth jazz acts: boogie-loving GIs frequented its cool, smoky interiors during World War II.
The swing band that we saw Monday night was highly entertaining. Top notch musicians. A few dancers, local regulars I’d guess, were wonderful. Dancers of lesser talents had space & if I’d had a dance partner and any ability I’d have been on the dance floor. We arrived at 9:15, got good seats, and the band started at 9:40 or 9:45.

The 38 RIV - Jazz Club is a very intimist Jazz venue in a vaulted 13th century cellar (with stonework giving it a medieval feel) on the right bank of the Seine River in Paris, France. The club hosts Jazz, Brazilian and ancient music (Baroque) concerts as well as jam sessions (Jazz & Funk) and has closed door amateur jazz jam sessions for developing young players. It is located a few blocks from Notre Dame Cathedral in central Paris. It offers a broad range of jazz styles: Swing, Bebop, Hardbop, modern, bossa nova and more
What a great experience! Fabulous night of live music in an amazing medieval cellar. Music was to a very high standard in such a cool setting. Loved it and will definitely go back when we visit Paris again.

The wanton and disreputable Storyville was Lulu’s home until 1917 when it was eventually shut down. Yet Lulu’s infamy lingers in her newly adopted home, PIGALLE. Known as ‘Pig Alley’ this Parisian quartier has long been a haven of seduction and vice. And now, straddling two cities, providing decadent nights to clients from all walks of life, the team behind the Little Red Door proudly presents, Paris’s drinking den, Lulu White.

Restaurant, piano bar, cabaret, live music nested in a medieval vault of the XIIIth century, at the heart of the Latin Quarter.
I found this place accidentally a year ago when my wife and I visited Paris for the first time. And honestly, it was the best experience of our lives! Not kidding. We did not have dinner, so I will not talk about that. We walked in looking for a place to have a late night drink. Just as we sat down I went downstairs and realized there was this whole area that looked like a cavern with live music and it was packed. I ran upstairs grabbed my wife and got our names on the waiting list for a table. It took about 20 min. Must have been around midnight when we got a table and let me tell you, THE NIGHT WAS MAGICAL! They had several performers signing songs from Lady Gaga, to Edith Piaf and some other stuff that sounded like Arabic to us. My wife and I just kept looking at each other like,,, what the hell?? How did we land here?? We danced next to our tables, I shoot video, took pics, etc. until 5am! The talent that we saw that night was incredible! There was a woman who did Bad Romance from Gaga while walking down the table in the middle of the room and I’m telling you the whole place was at a fever pitch! The vive was amazing, the place is very cool, and all I can say is Thank you! to all that made that night so special. If I ever have the opportunity to go back to Paris, THIS WILL BE ONE OF OUR MAIN STOPS! Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart to all of you who were there that night. If anyone does not believe this review, send me a note, I HAVE PICTURES! :)
