Some of the Japanese dishes were served from Shikisai into the Restaurant Caro E Cara for breakfast each morning. They even made a tuna fish cutting experience at 7:15am but we didn't have the chance to enjoy it due to it being too early. The meal was delicious, the tuna was fresh and well prepared by experienced chefs from the restaurant. The service was good as they helped prepare the wasabi and soy sauce for you (although this is entitled for early people only). Overall, a very delicious breakfast savoured which a part of it was delivered from this Shikisai restaurant.
"Ichifuji" was opened in Wakayama in 1981. We have been loved by many customers for a long time. The restaurant is located 45 minutes from the Kansai international airport and also near the Wakayama station or Wakayama castle. Wakayama is blessed with ric
We have first tasted Chef Tadashiâs Japanese food in 2016 when he was in Singapore and it became our go-to restaurant whenever we want to enjoy delicious, fresh and skilled Japanese food. When he informed us that he was going home to Wakayama we were so sad :( we miss his Japanese food so much we travelled from Singapore to Wakayama just so we can taste his food again :) highly recommended! Great food, coupled with the superb service, we are planning our next holiday to Wakayama again!Thank you so much. I hope see you again.ãããã¨ããããã¾ãArigatogozaimasuä¸å¯å£« Ichifuji Tadashi

I am a bit surprised that there hasn't been a reviewer from outside Japan commenting on this shop, given Wakayama has become popular amongst foreign tourists in recent years. This place is basically a family run canteen for the neighbourhood. As the shop remains open between lunch and dinner, many locals / folks working nearby seemed to pop in during all hours. We were there for a late lunch on a rainy day, and was thankful for the warm and hearty meals the owners served up. In short (for the foreigners reading this review), no English menu and owners do not really speak any English, but the hospitality and food were excellent. Definitely reinforces the notion of "the best places to eat when one travels are the restaurants with no English menus". We managed by the classic technique of pointing at the food samples outside the shop. We ordered the tonkatsu and tempura soba. The noodles were fantastic and tempura was made with fresh ingredients. The tonkatsu was better than what chains like Saboten serves up in locations outside Japan.I will definitely go again the next time I drop by Wakayama!

Traveling through Wakayama, we searched for great Japanese restaurants for a celebration meal and this Ganko Wakayama Rokusanen pops up highly recommended. And so we ventured to find it. Being unfamiliar with the roads at night we circled a bit till we came upon a beautifully manicure bonsai garden entrance. We strolled in some 20m and found the restaurant nestled within this charming traditional garden. It was a pity we came at night; I am sure itâs beautiful in the day. We were greeted by the restaurant manager who provided us with great service to our party of 6; we were ushered into a private room. The Japanese food is very good and value for money; and great service too.We came back with again 2 nights later with a party of 10. This time we were given a different room. I then realized there were many individual private rooms. The Japanese food was still very good!!We did call ahead to make reservations and when we arrived, the room was all laid out waiting for us.Highly recommended for great food n service and bonus charming garden around. Best make reservations.

We decided to try this place based on reviews and recommendations. We had our fill of ramen and grilled beef and wanted seafood for a change.5mins walk from JR Wakayama station, Turn Left at 1st block of traffic lights and walk pass a shop call 4 degrees on the right. The restaurant is located on the same street and direction of Ide Shonten ramen or Toyota car rental office. No English is spoken and no English menu and therefore you need to roughly be able to read some mandarin characters or know your basic Japanese fish name to venture to this izakaya (drinking place with variety of food). We decided to order ala carte, and started with sashimi (prawns, tuna and white fish). We then try the steam whole fish in soya sauce, roast eggplant in burdock, prawn tempura, wild vegetables with white anchovies and 2 beers - total came to about 12000y. We were also given a plate of appetisers (squid, fish cake, shell fish, Saba sushi, and pickle vegetables) and some deep fried fish bones (Super crispy and yummy).Overall, very well prepared food and delicious in a nice setting though limited seats. We did not make any reservations and took a chance to walk in at 6.45pm but some guests who came at 8pm were turn away. Most customers are local, we were the only non Japanese speaking tourists. Highly recommended if you looking for something local and adventurous. Forgot to take photos after we started digging in... you have to trust yourself on this one.

This place is easy to locate, as it is near the shrine. The food is simple home cooked style with little fanfare but with lots of authenticity. The braised sea bream head is delicate and fresh. The clam on rice is delicious. The most memorable item is the fried oysters with tartare sauce. The tartate sauce is unusual, filled with mushrooms, corns, olives and tartare sauce. Others items such as quail eggs and bbq clams are delicious too.The owners and the helpful are very friendly, even though we don't speak Japanese. Nice place for a relax meal.

We ordered 2 different courses to cut the difficulties of communication with the chef and waitresses, but the food and service turn out to be very nice. All the food is both very tasty and creative. Course meal start from 4,xxx to 7,xxx yen (four types).
