This was 2200 yen and is worth it ! Taste is delicious and there's plenty of it for one . Unlimited tea access and the restaurant is warm and welcoming . English menu available so please come visit. It's not in town and you'll need to drive . From Shimoda station it's a 40 minute walk (nothing of interest to look at but still a nice walk for fresh air)I come here every time I visit , it's just so yummy and reasonably priced for freshness !

Seafood restaurant in Izu.Sashimi and boiled fish, baked fish, shrimp Ise and abalone are also popular.
we went there attracted from the big fish(kinmedai) in the sign of the shop, once inside we chosen to eat a whole kinmedai stuffed in a soy sauce, we waited a little bit but the taste was great and also if expensive it worth the price.

This restaurant is located in Shimoda 下田市, founded in 1955, and the owner had been getting the seafood directly from the wholesaler. There is a large tank in front of the restaurant where some of the live seafood are kept there temporarily. Not exactly easy to find, it took us a while to arrive from the narrow road to this eatery. There is a small car park able to accommodate 4 vehicles. Overlooking the harbour in Shimoda, it has a total of 16 seats, half of them on tatami and half on table and chair.I ordered the Grilled Lobster Set 伊勢海老の鬼殻焼き付き御膳 (3,800 yen) which included a whole lobster grilled to perfection with the signature sauce, grilled big clam and conch, squid with seaweed in vinegar sauce, sashimi (three types), salted squid intestines, rice and soup, plus dessert.Honestly this lobster was the best I have ever tasted. Of a good size, the meat was firm but not rubbery, juicy and sweet in taste, with the sauce providing really nice flavors to supplement. The other seafood were also extremely fresh and good, and overall it was simply phenomenal in quality. My wife ordered just the grilled lobster, but it was of a much bigger size, with my parents going for the braised splendid alfonso 金目鯛のつや煮 and assorted sashimi お刺身の盛り合わせ. All of them were great in taste and I also could not believe the total bill for all these was only 12,600 yen!

I think all they have is unagi and they are swimming in a little bathtub right there in the store. Make you order for lunch and he will have you go away and come back in one half hour to eat the food. So delicious and fresh!!

The master, a very funny person, with his wife and daughter team create wonderful 'Tonkatsu' Deep Fried meats and seafood. The place is simple with down to earth polite service and eat all the sides you like including rice, pasta, miso soup and shredded cabbage.

Stumbled onto this small family restaurant, around the corner from the Shimoda train station. With just a few tables, and seating on a tatami floor, this was the best prepared red snapper/shiromi. Everything is cooked to order, so there was a bit of a wait, but we’ll worth it. For 1700 yen, you got a whole fish, either grilled or simmered in a soy/sake sauce, a bowl of miso soup and some Japanese pickles. This restaurant also offers a variety of fresh seafood, e.g. crab, lobster, sashimi, etc.

They serve very good and freshly made soba noodles here. You can chose hot or cold and with tempura or with pork in soup. The tofu side dish was delicious, the servings for the tofu is good one person. The place is charming and very traditional. You sit on the tatami mats floor with low tables. The staff do not speak English. Its best to show pictures from Tripadivisor or from there website. This place gets very crowded at noon time with very long lines.
