Unlike most Japanese restaurants in Hakuba this family run restaurant was very spacious. You canât make a reservation, however you can walk in and then write your name on the notebook stating how many guests and you can wait indoors, which is a treat as most restaurants you have to wait outside. It offers Japanese and western seating. The prices are very reasonable and one of the cheapest we have been to, alongside the largest portions we have had. The food was authentic Japanese with great, and huge, soba/udon soups and other local dishes. I highly recommend the tempura vegetables. This is great for singles, couples, families and even large groups. Just remember to take along cash as they donât accept credit cards.

Very nice place. Meals are yummy, and staffs are very friendly. It is very easy go to top of the slope from here. Because, Gondola lift station is in front of our restaurant.
this place is conveniently located at the bottom of the slope so we went in. we went during lunch time so it was quite packed when all ski-ers are having lunch. offers a broad range of food like curry rice, fried porklet, ramen, soft served ice cream etc.it was ok

A house restaurant across the street from Hotel Tokyu, we walked over for a 6:30 dinner. Service was personal, timely and gracious. No more than 7 tables from what I could tell. A lovely salmon sashimi appetizer followed by chicken in creamy sauce- was perfect comfort food on a cold night. Simple but thoughtful wine list, and other beverages available. In my opinion the experience would not be good for group of more than 5 or 6 . The chef owner came to our table to check with us about our experience. The best dining experience I had in Hakuba-
We were 4 friends who were lucky to find this great Japanese restaurant behind the Tusgaike Gondola Base station. You can ask for directions from Tsuga Base Bar. Typical Japanese dishes were all very good. Deep fried Oysters and The home made apple pie and ice cream were the highlight.
Tampopo is a charming, rustic Izakaya located at Tsugaike Kogen village. The food served is typical Japanese Izakaya fare ranging including edamame, karaage chicken, udon, dumplings, etc. The sho chu cocktails are delicious and are house-made custom flavors. The proprietor and waitress "Mom", is super friendly despite her very limited English. An English menu is available so ordering is a breeze regardless if you speak any Japanese or not. Great food and friendly service. Highly recommended!
We visited here for the "all you can eat and drink" buffet, but the real value of the night came not with the food, but with the guests and the hotel itself. It looks like a chalet you'd see in the Swiss Alps, and the range of food includes sushi, tempura, western style dishes such as hamburger patties, rice and noodles, soups, vegetarian options and a separate dessert buffet. If you take the drink option for extra, you can drink as much beer, wine, spirits and cocktails as you want, and the bartender on our night was very generous with the pouring! It is popular with older age tour groups, and if you don't mind the oldies in their yukatas falling asleep at the tables, you will have a great time.

They mainly serve a dish of mutton with vegetable, cooked at the table and commonly known as mongolian fondue. After this people usually get their soba, to share. Nice atmosphere, it is however usually crowded in season (book at table or come after 8pm) and can be smelly because of the barbecue-like cooking and people smoking in the restaurant. Nice with friends, groups of 4 or more.
