The mi the you walk into this place you know it will offer fresh seafood because the restaurant is a series of tables around a massive pool filled with fish and that's where your dinner is coming from. They also offer other things like grilled chicken and vegetable tempura and all in all this was an excellent meal.

If you can't speak Japanese, it's not an issue at this place. Order electronically and the conveyer belt drops off sushi individually at your table. The sushi is fresh, the location convenient, and the staff is super efficient. Prices are totally inexpensive. If you're at the JR station in Kokura, make a pit stop.

While staying in Kitakyushu, we were eager to try a few good restaurants. Seeing a few highly rated unagi restaurants, I had our hotel call to see which one had an English menu. It turns out that most of them do but the hotel concierge recommended Inakaan as the one she would go to. It was definitely a good recommendation. The restaurant is a short 5 to 10 minute walk from Kokura station located on a side street. The front of the restaurant is very quaint and has several pictures of their various unagi combination. The dining room is small but still has room for several tables. The back drop was beautiful. I felt very comfortable in there. When we got there, they welcomed us warmly although there wasn't someone who spoke English. They did understand when we asked for an English menu. It turns out that they had their japanese menu with an English description of each item hand written in the menu. I actually preferred that as I know I'm getting the same menu as all the other customers. Service was quick, attentive, and polite. The food is definitely the star. I have been to several unagi restaurants throughout Japan and I feel that Inakaan is amongst the best that I have been to so far. I found Inakaan's unagi to be well seasoned, lightly sauced, and cooked the way I like it. The unagi came to the table still slightly steaming and the aroma of the sauce can be smelled faintly. My wife got the combination that includes a side of broth that you add to the bowl. Her unagi was cut up smaller and also cooked a bit firmer. We both got a medium serving and it was plenty of food.If you are in Kitakyushu, definitely give Inakaan a try! You won't be disappointed.

This restaurant is famous in Kyusyu area and there are many chain shops. They serve mainly Udon, Japanese noodle. Also we can have Soba (noodle), Oden and some kinds of Donmono (Katsudon, Gyudon, Toritenndon). I recommend a set with Donmono and half noodle, because you can enjoy both rice and noodle. The price is reasonable and the tast is good. Some shops open 24h. I think not only Japanese but also foreigners will enjoy the Japanese food for lunch or dinner.
