A 10 minutes' walk from Tokushima station, I would recommend this restaurant for informal gatherings (friends/family) who want to get a taste of what the local restaurant tastes and feels like. The restaurant is small but cozy, and also serves noodles and rice balls in addition to okonomiyaki. One person costs on average 600-1000 yen, which is pretty fair for its food and environment.

IntroduceToribon is a restaurant selling skewers of barbecued chicken. It specializes in meat. Especially, locally produced chicken "Awaodori" .Itâs a 4 minute walk from Tokushima Station.Itâs open for dinner( 5 p.m. ï½ 12 a.m. ), and is closed on Wednesday. Food quality There are different kinds of yakitori , such as torikawa(chicken skin kabob), tukune(meetball kabob), nankotu(cartilage kabob) and also.Furthermore, there are a lot of food used Awaodori and Satumadidori.Especially, Oyakodon(rice bowi topped with chicken and egg) is very delicious.I recommend shochu, too.Thereâs good selection of shochu.Service There are usually two waiters. The service is quite attentive and the staff are polite. If there are groups, it can be noisy and the food might be slow. Setting The restaurant has counter area and table area. They can have groups of 10 people for a party in table area.If you come alone, I recommend the counter because you can see the kitchen and the main chef. The atmosphere is very vibrant. Price The evening menuâs prices are reasonable.Yakitori is reasonable( about 120 ï½ 190 yen ).Most appetizers are about 400ï½1000 yen.The food is tasty and the portions are nice, so itâs a great value for the quality of the food. Other info The staff speaks only a little English. The foreign menu is not available.Vegetarian dishes and halal dishes are not available.

We found the women divers themed seafood dinner most enjoyable. Our set menu, which cost JPY8,000/pax, included: for sashimi, lobster, abalone and prawn, and for barbecue, rock lobster, abalone, clam, scallop and conch, followed by miso soup cooked with lobster head. It was a feast. The seafood was fresh and very delicious. Our hostess, who removed the shells and served us the seafood, was very friendly though not able to communicate in English (not a problem at all). Reservation is a must. We booked 3 months in advance.

A Japanese restaurant located the center of Tokushima providing local taste. The place to enjoy local seafood
This review is written from perspective of an English speaking couple who speak zero Japanese. Location: 5 min from train station, very convenient Service: ok. While we spoke zero Japanese and the 2 servers spoke virtually no English, they were not particularly helpful. The male and female wait staff who took turns serving us were not particularly interested in explaining anything. They were not rude, nor did they show much interest. They wanted us to order and they were efficient. Menu: mostly seafood, but also other meats. The menu was in Japanese. There were zero pictures. Here there were no displays of dishes sold. We ordered by guessing, by pointing at Google and Tripadvisor pictures, and with Google translate. What we had was good, but we could have ordered better/more had there been help from wait staff, menu, or displays. We went on a Monday night at 5:40 pm. The place was moderately busy already. They probably donât need to cater to tourists. Food: decently high quality Price: Attractive. Tokushima is not expensive. The value was good. There is no way we could have duplicated the price in California.

We visited Todai to try the famous Tokushima ramen. Tokushima ramen is known for its brown-colored soup, which is made up of Tonkotsu (pork bone broth) and dark soy sauce. The ramen is often eaten with a raw egg (free at Todai), along with chashu (sliced pork), green onions, bean sprouts. There is no English menu; you need to place your order using their vending machine outside the restaurant. While there are pictures of the food, it's not very descriptive. We just went with our gut and chose a few things to try. Bring the small coupons that the vending machine spits out and pass to the staff. The soup is relatively salty for my preference, and a bit thick. But then again, preference for ramen is very personal. I would not go again. Parking lot available (4 spots)

Yasubei is a Japanese-style bar.It takes 5 minutes from Tokushima station by foot.Itâs open from 10:30 am to 9;30 pm.(for lunch from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm)They have many kinds of dishes. In particular they have local foods and local sake in tokushima. When you wanna order Awaodori, you call Didori. The Specials are different dishes by the day.Their menus offer things so quick and delicious. The staffs give good active service. They get along with them customer for the first time.Itâs among the few restaurants where you can drink alcohol from daytime in front of the station. The dishes are very reasonable they give generous portions of food. They havenât had foreign language menu yet, but they are ordering it now. They have few people that can speak foreign languages, but part-time worker who college student can speak a little English. There arenât any Vegan or vegetarian dishes. However they can deal with the request when we book in advance. There arenât any halal dishes.(Reviewed by M.H.)
