Reviews on Jamaican food in Port Royal, Kingston, Kingston Parish. Port Royal is a village located at the end of the Palisadoes at the mouth of the Kingston Harbour, in southeastern Jamaica. Founded in 1518 by the Spanish, it was once the largest city in the Caribbean, functioning as the centre of shipping and commerce in the Caribbean Sea by the latter half of the 17th century. It was destroyed by an earthquake on June 7, 1692, which had an accompanying tsunami. Severe hurricanes have regularly damaged it. Another severe earthquake occurred in 1907.

Having visited Kingston on several occasions, this restaurant has always been on the list to visit and we finally made it.Parking is plentiful and the restaurant itself is in very pleasant surroundings. Our waitress was friendly and efficient and we were seated by the pool and bridge. We ordered vegetable pasta with an Alfredo sauce, vegetable pasta in a pesto sauce and I had snapper with a scotch bonnet sauce. All of them were very nice and the sauces that went with the 2 pasta dishes were excellent. Portions were really large so unless you are a renowned trencherman , I wouldnât have a starter!!Certainly worth a visit.

We were greeted with an authentic warm smile and continued to be served with the same warmness. Food was quick and delish! I enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken which was great, I especially loved the side of roti and homemade lemonade. We'll be back!

Went here one evening with a colleague and couldn't have been happier. We both got the fried lobster in curry sauce, split an order of shrimp with garlic, and a side of Festival and Bammy. The bar was well stocked with top shelf liquor and local beers. It was dark at night so we couldn't enjoy the beach but it looked good and seems like the place would be a great party scene too. Definitely worth a visit. Just keep in mind this is bar is on the beach so dress accordingly.

A clean, airy, atmosphere where the food is both tasty and attractively displayed. The variety was great including fruits, yogurt, eggs, bacon, pancakes, pastry along with Jamaican style cuisine. A delightful time spent with family.

I was picking up some visitors at the airport and called ahead to reserve a table for 3 on a Friday night at 8.30, and to make sure there was lobster. The attention was good, there were a lot of tables occupied with two still free, one for us, upstairs as requested. After a nice cold beer, we were served in about half an hour with three large grilled lobsters with garlic butter on the side along with lots of bammy and festival. Could not have been better, great food and good value.

Things to do before going to Gloriaâs:- Reconsider- Spend some more time reconsidering. Read reviews, seek advice from locals, pray.- If you still must go through this hell then proceed as follows:- - Eat before you go, ideally something that will give you lots of energy. You will need this energy either for the long waiting time or for the fight youâre quite likely to get into due to non-existent customer service and nonsensical policies like charging you a service charge for a complete lack of service (true story, I literally did not get my food).- -Pray. Again. This time for patience. This will be tested severely.- Once you have lived through this hell (I told you not to go, but no), do not ever return.

This restaurant is noted for great local food and is reasonable priced. We had the: Pirate Catch(fried fish, grilled lobster and spicy shrimp), Whole grilled lobster, fish soup, coconut water and it cost less than $40US. The lobster and fish were fresh from the sea. This was the best local meal I had while visiting Kingston.

Contemporary dining and bar with indoor and outdoor seating in a cobblestone courtyard with a pond. Vegetarian and gluten free menu options are available. Open for lunch and dinner.
Chive opened in November 2018, and I took a friend for lunch in late March, 2019, hoping they had ironed out the challenges inherent in opening a new restaurant. Certainly, the menu choices very interesting and varied and the waiter was both friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes of offer. However, service was extraordinarily slow. We were in the restaurant for two hours - not an amount of time that most folks can invest at lunch time. However, the food was very good, and the house salad dressing was so special that it warrants ordering a salad simply to have the dressing. The pasta was also very good. Recommended for lunch if one has lots of time to invest.
