This italian restaurant deserved my visit twice in 10 days, once with a friend, once with my husband, and is a big contender for one of the best in Wuppertal. The decor is nice and service attentive. They also have a good wine selection. The risotto with scampi is one of the best I ever had (3 out of 3 people who tried it were very impressed!) The pizza is definitely above Wuppertal average: excellent base and very tasty tomato sauce, great also with some milder topping such as parma ham and rucola. As starter, beware of the enormous roasted buffalo mozzarella in parma ham mantel: this actually comes on a huge bruschetta (quite oily but delicious) and is covered with roasted cherry tomatoes... you will struggle with anything else you ordered as a main. My husband ordered one of the daily specials, with a much more german flair (the 'Merano' = Süd-Tyrol side): some braised venison with red cabbage and veggies, he was also very happy. Just a little overpriced (11,50 Euros) the mixed starter Primavera for 2: nice, but nothing you couldn't buy in a decent supermarket. All in all, a great evening in both cases, we will certainly be back.

Pino's is nothing more than a decent sport bar with friendly staff and good cocktails in Wuppertal city centre. It's not cosy and it's not particularly trendy. It's got big screens to watch football if you are into this sort of things. It's got outside tables giving on the pedestrianised street, which is nice on a sunny day. But the pizza is one of the best in Wuppertal! Seriously! Fresh ingredients: proper mozzarella, proper italian sausage (the 'fennel' one), lovely fried aubergines... that was really really good. My advice would be not to go for the stuffed crust ones (although the toppings on those looked the most interesting, I'm sure you can ask for the equivalent without the cheesy crust). It is simply too much. You can have a large one to share (3 people I would say, or 2 hungry ones). Just give it a try, I think you might be pleasantly surprised!

My husband and I visited Grigio last sunday and our overall opinions diverged a little bit, therefore this is a difficult review. Let's start with the location: Aprath is an uptown neighbourhood, a bit off the beaten track. The area is lovely and green, and the bier-garden area looked appealing, although it was a bit too cold to sit outside. The interior is spotless and the deco is very classy, despite this the service is relaxed. We order a vitello tonnato and a focaccia with cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella as starters, Ravioloni 'Nero' with salmon and a salami and peppers pizza as mains, with some house wine (a primitivo). Verdict: Vitello tonnato: nice meat, but the thinnest sauce ever, could hardly taste the tuna. Focaccia: lovely (8.50 Euro!!!). Ravioli: definitely home made, generous salmon filling, but again the sauce is a bit of a let down (price: 13.50 Euro!!!), pizza: fantastic base: you can tell they make the best of the wood fired oven, authentic italian salami, but, once again, the tomato sauce is bland, and no trace of the promised chilli kick (price: 11.50 Euro!!!). Dessert, one shared tiramisù, is top class (price: 6,50 Euro). Grand total: 71 Euros for 2 persons. What if we had ordered meat? OTT. Sorry, for this price, you have to get everything right. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but we won't cross town too often for this, and stick to more down-to-earth neighbourhoods.

Great ambience, beautifully renovated. We were served by a young lady Who did a great job. Instead of a starter for everybody, we ordered two plates, anti pasti to share among 7. Really delicious, typical Italian, aubergine, zucchini, mushrooms, prawns in milk aoli, olives ect.The pasta dishes were very good( large portions) and the dorade perfectly prepared. Unfortunately no room for desert. A great dry white wine, served well chilled. A most enjoyable evening, very friendly staff.

If you are looking for Mediterranean/Italian cuisine, where the basic ingredients are prepared in a creative new way, and your budget lies at approx. EUR 40/person, this is definitely a place to go. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, with a lot of wood and a simplistic, natural interior design, a bit crammed but the food is excellent. All 4 dishes were very tasty with their own particular dish design. I had not tried any of them except for the chocolate souffle (which often can be ordered at other restaurants), but the latter was homemade and had a very intense, dark chocolate taste, not too sweet. The pumpkin gnocci with fennel are an ideal and different combination as Italian restaurants often use tomato sauce or cream (too much fat for my taste). The menu tends to change, thus be prepared to find completely different dishes depending on season.

Very friendly local Italian restaurant. Has a varied menu of Pasta and Pizza dishes. We had been on a long bus tour in unseasonably warm weather. While we would have preferred dining al fresco, unfortunately the rest of the crowd had the same idea. I had a Pasta dish featuring linguine type noodles in a ragout. My better half opted for a Pizza. both were excellent. Service was a bit slow, but it was NOT due to the wait staff who was constantly hustling. Adding additional staff is not feasible in this small venue. I suggest that you just slow down, perhaps have an appertizer or a glass of wine and enjoy life in Wuppertal
