We've been going to Boccone South for years. It's right in the middle of downtown South Orange a quaint not-so-small village in North Jersey. Their pastas and meat dishes are excellent. The staff is friendly and entertaining. We love that it's 5 minutes from our house.

The food was very tasty, very authentic italian. And, the service was terrific. But, the host did look down on us for not having a reservation and because we didn't order appetizers. If you can get past the ill manners of the staff, the food is well worth the bother.Although the servers were snobbish, they did give us excellent service.

Enjoyed dinner here for birthday celebration...Restaurant is small but comfortable and location in center of town with a parking lot located behind restaurant, made for easy access. Server was friendly and attentive to table. Dinner consisted of appetizers of eggplant rollatini, shimp in garlic sauce, Brie cheese and fruit platter and artichoke with garlic sauce..all delicious, crabcake appe was small sized for price.. For dinner we enjoyed the pork chop, steak, shrimp dinner ..But only issue would be the dessert and coffee prices ..abit pricey..$10.50 for A piece of tiramisu ..and a small portion at that..Cappuccino was good but at $5.95 a cup..pass on dessert/coffee.!!

You can order the tasty traditional Italian entrees such as Marsala, Parm and standard pastas but they have an extended menu where there are many entrees not normally seen locally. Shrimp with Broccoli Rabe, Seafood Canollini, Short Ribs with Risotto, Italian Stuffed Sole. To be honest we have never had the pizza, we are spoiled by another local institution. Our book club had its Christmas dinner at the Chestnut Chateau. They did an excellent job. Every thing was well presented and tasted delicious. Service was friendly and very efficient. Even though there were two other large parties going on sound was well absorbed, unlike other places I have been to where you could not hear yourself talk. Will definitely return.

My wife sons and I had a delicious dinner at Basilico tonight. From the Prosciutto and melon to the fried calamari to the gnocchi Bolognese... the short ribs were awesome, the arrabiata delicious. Everything was perfect as weâve come to expect. Grazie, tutti!

My boyfriend and I came here for the first time recently and loved it. The entire staff was welcoming and attentive, the food delicious and the drinks wonderful. Portions were ample and flavorful. 2 minor dings- the accompanying side salad was a bit lackluster and the bread was pretty average which surprised me as the food quality is otherwise outstanding. We would definitely return in the future. It was a very enjoyable night out.

La Campagnola is a gem of a restaurant, with some of the best Italian food to be found in New Jersey. Tucked away in Kenilworth's industrial zone, la Campagnola's outward appearance does no justice to the wonderful menu inside. The owner and staff are friendly and very professional -- the waiters recite the day's menu from memory and can make informed recommendations. While the specials (ex, mussels in brandy cream sauce) are mouthwatering, the standard menu (ex, linguine alla vongole) is solid and well done. All the parmagiana dishes are excellent, so is the chicken La Campagnola. The filet mignon, when available, is perfectly done. The menu tilts toward seafood (scallops on risotto, various shrimp dishes, salmon, etc) but really everything is done quite well. The chef/owner worked for many years at a famous Italian restaurant in Jersey City and he knows the palate of his customers. La Campagnola is a hidden treasure.

La Griglia is an upscale, expensive Italian restaurant with a full bar and valet parking. The food served is excellent, great quality and very well prepared. The service could not be better as everyone from the maitre de to the servers and bartenders are extremely friendly and make you feel welcome.

Everything here is so fresh and tasty - never disappoints! Only complaint is I wish the place took reservations or expanded. Many times we want to go but don't because we just don't have the time or patience to wait (and wait, and wait.....)
